Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is an essential part of international trips. Some countries even mandate international travel insurance coverage as a part of their visa processes. It offers financial protection for emergencies like missed flights, lost luggage, theft, medical emergencies, etc.

If you are someone who travels overseas frequently throughout the year, whether it be for work or leisure, you can definitely benefit from multi-trip holiday insurance. These plans are specifically designed for frequent flyers.

Let’s find out what exactly is an annual multi-trip insurance plan and how you can get one.

What is Multi-Trip Travel Insurance?

An annual trip travel insurance plan, also known as multi-trip travel insurance, is specifically designed for frequent flyers. These plans function similarly to single-trip plans but will cover multiple trips within a given year instead of one.

There is no restriction on the number of trips you can take within the year either. You will be covered so long as your travel insurance yearly plan stays active.

So, if you are a business owner or work in a multinational company that needs you to travel outside India pretty often, or if you are simply fond of travelling overseas, Tata AIG’s annual multi-trip travel insurance can help secure your trips.

Our travel insurance plans provide unmatched financial coverage against different kinds of trip-related emergencies.

*Remember that these parameters can vary depending on your chosen insurance provider.

Features of Multi-Trip Holiday Insurance

Free Look Period: This feature is only available with annual travel insurance plans. So, if you have any objections to the terms of your travel policy, you can cancel your plan within the first 15 days of purchase and get a full refund.

Unlimited Trips in a Year: With annual multi-trip travel insurance, you can get coverage for an unlimited number of trips in a single year, with each trip having a duration of 30 - 45 days. It is a cost-effective way to cover multiple overseas trips.

All Around Travel Coverage: Under annual holiday insurance, you get coverage for trip cancellations, flight delays/cancellations, medical insurance coverage for hospitalisations, loss of passport, etc., meaning you stay covered against most, if not all, perils while overseas.

Personal Liability (Third Party Coverage): Any accidental damages or personal injury caused by you to a third-party individual will be covered by multi-trip insurance. This also includes any legal liabilities that may arise due to the accidental damage.

Grace Periods and Extensions: Another unique feature of annual travel plans is their 30-day grace period renewal payments. You also get an automatic coverage extension of 7 days if necessary due to unforeseen delays that are beyond your control.

What Does Multi-Trip Insurance Cover?

Third-Party Liability: If a third-party person suffers bodily injury or property damage due to an accident involving you, you will get insurance coverage for the financial and legal liability costs.

Trip Assistance: You will be reimbursed for non-fundable costs like hotel bookings, pre-booked events and reservations, and flight tickets in the event of a cancelled trip due to an unforeseen emergency.

Flight Delay or Cancellation: You might miss a flight because of delays or because your first flight got cancelled. With a multi-trip travel insurance plan, you will be compensated if your flight is cancelled or delayed.

Medical Support: You get medical insurance coverage for accidental death or injury during your trips. This means you will be covered for emergency hospitalisations, dental costs for medically necessary treatment and emergency medical evacuations.

Loss of Baggage and Passport Coverage: If you end up losing your passport or your luggage during the trip, you can make a travel insurance claim and the insurer will cover all the costs for replacing your lost items. For your lost checked-in luggage, your total cost would be compensated by the travel plan.

Repatriation and Death Coverage: In case of the traveller’s (policyholder’s) sudden death or permanent disability during the trip, the repatriation of the body or the treatment expenses would be covered under the annual trip travel insurance policy.

Hijack Cover: If in case your plane gets hijacked, according to the policy terms and conditions, you will be compensated for the distress caused to you during such an unfortunate incident.

Things to Consider Before Buying an Annual Trip Travel Insurance Plan

  • Single-trip travel policies and annual travel plans have targeted benefits. Hence, it is crucial to consider these key factors before buying multi-trip insurance:

  • Do you need to travel outside of India/overseas many times during a given year?

  • Are your trip durations long? - i.e., Do they take several days or weeks?

  • Are your travel plans unpredictable, and do you require worldwide insurance coverage?

  • If the answer to any of these questions was a yes, then multi-trip travel insurance plans may be the right choice for you. You will be happy to note that Tata AIG’s plans offer flight ticket insurance to cover last-minute trip cancellations.
