It can be, if you take care of the basics first. It’ll ensure your winters go by smoothly without any serious illnesses. After all, even with cold outside, winters need not be an unhealthy season for your family.

How To Take Care Of Your Health During Winters

With some simple lifestyle changes and winter practices, you can move out of your hibernation mode and look forward to a fit and healthy season!

Get Immunised  Every year, medical experts improve the flu vaccines to fight the latest viruses. It is best to get your family immunised with the influenza vaccine. A lot of government hospitals offer the vaccine for free. If you have kids, make it a point to talk to the doctor about the required vaccinations to prevent infections and diseases.

Change Your Toothbrush We’ve all heard that we need to change our toothbrush every three to four months. But how many of us sincerely do it? Likewise, it’s also important to replace your toothbrush after you recover from a cold, flu, sore throat or mouth infection. This is because germs tend to hide in the toothbrush bristles and can cause the infection to reappear.

Stay Hydrated We don’t feel as thirty in the winters as we do in the summers, yet, it’s important to drink lots of fluids during this season. Drink hot milk at night; add some turmeric as it reduces your risk of catching a cold and flu. Don’t forget to drink atleast 6 to 8 glasses of water every day. And, if you’re a chai lover like most Indians, stock up on black and green teas to enjoy their antioxidant benefits.

Stay Well Moisturised Winter means dry, flaky skin and chapped lips. It is advisable to apply a rich moisturizer and a good amount of chapstick every few hours to keep your skin soft and supple. A good way to do that is by keeping miniature bottles of moisturizers.

Relish the Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables  It is the season where all fruits and vegetables are at their best. Try to include one seasonal fruit in your breakfast if you aren’t doing so already. Also, add one extra vegetable to your meals for better health. Carrots, cauliflowers and broccoli are excellent winter veggies and make the perfect ingredients for soups.

Happy Winter and Happy Holidays!
