TATA AIG Senior Citizen Travel Insurance (with COVID-19 covered*)

Let’s get your trip off to a safe start!

Things to Remember for Senior Citizens while Travelling Abroad

Senior citizens today are taking the travel world by storm, jet-setting across the globe to explore new places or visit their loved ones. If you’re over the age of 70 and planning a trip abroad, here’s a look at some important things to keep in mind:

custom list

Time The Trip Perfectly

The timing of a trip is always crucial, but when senior citizens are involved, it’s all the more necessary to ensure that everybody has a comfortable journey. Make sure the weather at the destination is not too hot or too cold. Extreme weather conditions could lead to medical issues, which could end with a hospitalisation. Of course, with a senior citizen travel insurance policy, we’ll help take care of the medical costs that come with being hospitalised, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

custom list

Carry Your Medicines

Many older people take medicines and supplements every day to keep their health issues in check. While travelling, it’s important to carry all your regular medicines with you so you don’t have to shell out a lot of money to purchase medication in a foreign country. It’s also important to carry your required medicines so that you don’t need to seek treatment for a pre-existing disease. In most cases, your senior citizen travel insurance policy will not help you deal with the costs of treatment for an existing issue, but in life-threatening situations, we’ll help take care of those costs as well.

custom list

Keep Your Passport Safe

While travelling abroad, you have to keep your documents and especially your passport very safe. Ideally, keep it in the safe of your hotel room or in a secure place wherever you’re staying. You shouldn’t carry it around with you while you’re out and about. Instead, carry a copy with you as proof of your identity. If your passport does get lost, your senior citizen travel insurance policy will help you deal with the cost of getting a new passport.

Buying Senior Citizen Travel Insurance Online

Buying a senior citizen travel insurance policy online on the TATA AIG website is incredibly easy. All you have to do is follow a few easy steps:

1
Visit the TATA AIG Travel Insurance website

If you like, you can read about our various plans and take a look at what each offers. Or, you can decide to purchase senior citizen travel insurance right away.

2
Type in your destination and dates of travel

If you’re heading to multiple cities, don’t worry. We offer plans for that as well. Type in all the cities you’re visiting and how long you’ll be travelling for. We’ll use this information to curate the best domestic travel insurance policy options for you.

3
Add all the travellers and their ages

If you’re travelling alone, you just need to enter your date of birth. If you’re travelling with family members, you can add them to the same policy. You have the option to add your spouse, children and parents. Let us know who you’re travelling with and their dates of birth. All individuals above the age of 71 will be provided with separate coverage amounts and limits, as per our senior citizen travel insurance policy. All travellers below the age of 71 will be covered by our regular international travel insurance policy.

4
Choosing Your ideal Plan

We’ll provide you with a plan that offers you the kind of cover you need. You can take a look at all the benefits and sum insured amounts offered and then decide whether you’d like your plan to have limited coverage or not. A limited coverage travel insurance plan will have sub-limits, while a non-limited plan will not. If you opt for a plan with sub-limits, the claims you make against different medical issues will be covered only up to the limit specified for that specific issue, regardless of your total sum insured. On the other hand, if you opt for a plan without sub-limits, you can use the entire sum insured as required. We won’t limit how much you can use for specific issues. Use the toggle at the top to see the differences between the two types of travel insurance plans before you make your decision.

5
Make the Payment

The last thing you need to do is provide us with a few more details and pay the premium amount. The minute you do this, we’ll issue your senior citizen travel insurance policy and send a copy to your email inbox!

Service Related

Do I need senior citizen travel insurance to get a visa?

This depends entirely on your destination. Certain countries require you to have adequate cover under your international senior citizen travel insurance plan before they issue you a visa. On the other hand, several countries allow Indians visa-free entry or visa on arrival.

Does the TATA AIG senior citizen travel insurance policy come with a free-look period?

We offer a free-look period on our annual and multi-trip travel insurance plans. If you purchase a single-trip travel insurance policy, we cannot offer a free-look period. The free-look period is for 15 days from the day the insured receives the policy documents.

What is evacuation and repatriation coverage?

Evacuation and repatriation coverage is helpful in times of medical and fatal emergencies. Under this cover, our senior citizen travel insurance policy will help take care of the cost of using medically-equipped flights to transport the injured individual or repatriate the mortal remains of the insured back to India.

I had to cancel my trip for personal reasons, but I already bought travel insurance. Can I get a refund?

Yes, absolutely. You can cancel your policy at any time before the policy start date, which will be the same as your planned travel date. A nominal cancellation charge of INR 200 will be deducted, but we will refund the rest of your money to you.

Are there any age limits for senior citizen travel insurance?

All individuals who are 71 or older can get cover under our senior citizen travel insurance plans.

When does my senior citizen travel insurance policy coverage start?
