Covid-19 came and took our world by storm. People were suddenly forced to stay within the confines of their homes. We could no longer predict what was coming next. People had time on their hands for the first time in years, but they did not know what to do with it. What people missed the most was the freedom to move around freely.

When travel restrictions were lifted, people were itching to move out, but many countries were not allowing Indians to cross their borders. This was owing to safety reasons. But with the advent of the vaccines, things got easier to the point where many countries opened their borders to Indian citizens. As of now, 113 countries allow Indian citizens into their country.

So if you are thinking of taking a trip abroad, you need not worry. Chances are, you will be able to gain passage to the country of your choice as long as you have a vaccination certificate in India. But if the pandemic has taught us anything, it should be that the world we live in is very unpredictable.

So being careful is a must, especially if we are planning to go abroad. So then, a travel insurance plan should not merely be seen as a precaution but as a necessity. If you are travelling and things go South, especially when it comes to your health, you could be stuck. But with the right travel insurance, you need not worry about anything. Covid Vaccination Certificate in India

A vaccination certificate in India serves as legal confirmation that a person has received one or both dosages of any vaccine that has been authorised in the country. The head of the document says whether the holder has gotten one dose of COVID-19 vaccination or is completely vaccinated.

On online portals such as UMANG App, Aarogya Setu, Digilocker App, and the Cowin gateway, the vaccination certificate in India can be accessed and confirmed.

113 nations recognise a Covid vaccine certificate from India, with some specifically agreeing to mutual acceptance of certificates with India, whereas others maintain their unique rules that apply to all vaccinated travellers.

Which Countries Have Approved Covaxin and Covishield (in Detail)

For a deeper insight into countries accepting Covaxin and Covishield, we give you some important details on some countries.

  • Maldives

The Maldives, an island nation, declared that all South Asian countries would be allowed passage from the 15th of July. There is no necessary quarantine on entry for those who show no indicators, as per the Maldives Ministry of Tourism (MoT).

However, except for one-year-old children, all travellers will be required to provide a negative RT-PCR before arrival. Additionally, persons who have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccination (on the Covishield vaccine accepted countries list) will no more be obligated to follow the island's statutory travelling quarantine policy. All required is that a person is vaccinated with the second dose at least two weeks before entering the country.

  • South Korea

Indian travellers who have taken both shots of the Covishield vaccine do not need to be quarantined for 2 weeks in South Korea. Those that have gotten Covaxin, on the other hand, would have to stay quarantined for two weeks because the Bharat Biotech vaccine has yet to be approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

  • Europe

Europe is not on the Covaxin approved countries list, but it does approve Covishield. Around 15 EU countries have verified that tourists vaccinated with Covishield will be allowed to travel to their country. The Covishield vaccine has been licenced in 15 European countries, including Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Switzerland, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.

But Estonia has stated that it will recognise all vaccines approved by the Indian government, making it one of the countries accepting Covaxin.

Conclusion

Before planning a trip, awareness about where you can be and where you cannot is key. There is no use putting in hours of effort collating information only to find out that while buying a ticket, you were planning a trip to a place you cannot go to. We need to know that the world we live in today is a lot different from what it was pre-pandemic. Thus, it becomes even more important to get the right travel insurance plan whenever planning a trip.
