Importance of NOC in India

An NOC is a legally binding document and hence, it holds a lot of importance whether you are selling it or transferring to another place.

Legal Compliance: A no objection certificate is a mandatory legal requirement as per the Motor Vehicles Act that must be fulfilled while selling your bike or registering in another place. Thus, an NOC helps you to comply with the legal requirements.

Clear Ownership: An NOC from the bank implies that all the loan/hypothecation on the bike is paid and the title is clear. Similarly, an NOC from the RTO proves that all the due taxes have been paid and it is safe to transfer the ownership or re-register it.

Fraud Prevention: When you obtain an NOC for the bike, it eliminates the scope of any fraudulent activities.

Smooth Transfer: A vehicle with NOC is easier to transfer to another owner or re-register in another city or state as it indicates a clear record.

NOC Validity

NOCs have a validity of six months from the date of issuance. Thus, if you want to re-register your bike with another RTO, you must do it within the timeframe specified. After the lapse of six months, the NOC will not be valid.

The same is true when a motorcycle is sold. The buyer must register it with a new RTO in a different state within six months. If the process is not completed within six months, then the NOC loses its eligibility. Once the NOC expires, it cannot be renewed and you must apply for a fresh NOC.

Conclusion

We can infer that a bike NOC online is a pivotal document, especially if you want to transfer the ownership of your vehicle or want to re-register with a different RTO. It is a mandatory requirement as per the Motor Vehicles Act. Since the entire process can be done online, it is much easier to obtain an NOC for your bike.
