In the event of a traffic violation, the offenders will be identified and issued an E-Challan. The offence and the penalty will be notified to the offender through the Delhi E-Challan by sending it to their registered contact address, mobile number, or Email. The offenders can check the details and make the payment online.

The E-Challan in Delhi is also referred to as a 'Notice'. The steps required to check the status of the Notice using the Delhi Traffic Police website are as follows:

Visit the Delhi Traffic Police page.

Click on Pending Challan/ Notice.

From the drop-down menu, click on Pending Notices.

Provide the Vehicle Number or the Notice Number.

Click on Search Details.

The system will display the details such as Vehicle Number, Offence Detail, Penalty Amount, Status, etc.

Using Parivahan Website

• Visit the Parivahan - E-Challan Digital Traffic/ Transport Enforcement Solution page.

• Choose between Challan Number, Vehicle Number, or Driving License Number.

• Enter the required details.

• Enter the Captcha Code and click on 'Get Detail'.

• The details of the E-Challan, such as the amount payable and the due date, will be mentioned. Choose the option to make payment and use any of the applicable digital payment methods to complete the process.

Visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) from where the E-Challan was issued or to the Delhi Traffic Police Headquarters.

Make the payment directly at the office or prepare a cheque or demand draft in favour of the Delhi Traffic Police and send it via Post.

Upon receiving and successful payment, the vehicle owner will receive a confirmation message via SMS or the registered Email.

Steps To Check The Payment Transaction Status

• Navigate to the Vahan Citizen Services web portal.

• Click on 'Know Your Payment Transaction Status'.

• Choose one among the available options, such as Transaction ID, Payment ID, Bank Reference Number, Registration Number, and GRN Number.

Identifying traffic violations and issuing the E-Challan is a highly regulated process in Delhi. However, there are possible scenarios wherein a wrong vehicle is captured and issued with an E-Challan due to occasional inaccuracies.
