Greece is a popular travel destination for its vibrant culture, rich history and stunning landscapes. However, before you start planning your trip, you need to apply for a Greece visa for Indians.

Thankfully, the visa application process can be done online and it will require specific fee rates for each visa type.

The Grecian Embassy implements these fees as they are required to cover your visa processing expenses.

Do Indian Travellers Need a Greece Visa?

Yes, Indian nationals must hold a pre-approved Greece Schengen visa to travel to or reside in Greece. This means you must first apply for a Greece Schengen visa while in India – either online or offline, get it approved and then book your ticket to Greece.

A few key Greece visa requirements for Indian nationals include a valid Indian passport, international travel insurance, a clean criminal record and no prior visa violations.

-Does Greece Offer Visa-On-Arrival for Indians?

Unfortunately, Greece does not offer visa-on-arrival services for Indian travellers. India is not included under Greece’s list of visa-free countries and hence, Indian nationals must hold a Greece visa for Indians to be allowed entry into the country.

The only exception to this rule are Indian diplomatic passport holders, who can opt for visa-on-arrival for 90 days.

Greece Visa for Indians: Types and Fees

Greece visas for Indians can be broadly divided into short-term visas (C Visas) – for stays up to 90 days and national/long-term visas (D Visas) for stays exceeding 3 months.

The fee rates mentioned below are all payable via cash or UPI in Indian Rupees (INR), as per current exchange rates between EURO (€) and INR (₹).

How to Apply for a Greece Visa for Indians from India?

Greece Visa Fee for Indians: National/Long-Term Visas (D Visas)The Greece visa for Indians application process must be completed in person by visiting the Visa Application Centre (VAC), regardless of whether you opt for the online or offline method.

Moreover, all Indian travellers must submit their biometrics when submitting their Greece visa applications. This can be done at the VAC.

We recommend submitting the application form online, booking your appointment and then visiting the VAC with your printed form and supporting documents to save time. Here is how you can do both processes:

  • Visit the Global Visa Center World (GVCW) website and register for an account.

  • Log in, click the Apply Online option and select your closest VAC.

  • On your profile’s dashboard, click New Online Application.

  • Fill out the application form and upload any required documents.

  • Submit your application and book an appointment at your chosen VAC.

  • After this, print out your filled-in application form and visit the VAC with your supporting documents to complete the rest of your application process on-site.

  • You will be notified via email or SMS about your visa approval and about when you can come to collect your passport.

  • Download, print and fill out the visa application form along with the data protection form from the Global Visa Center World (GVCW) website.

  • Visit your nearest VAC or the Greece Embassy in New Delhi with the printed forms and your supporting documents.

  • Submit your forms and documents and proceed to pay your Greece visa fee for Indians.

  • Once you have completed your in-person application process, the VAC will dispatch your visa and passport to your residential address via post upon approval. Or you can collect both documents in person at the VAC.

Documents Required for Greece Visa for Indians

  • Your visa application form, duly filled and signed.

  • International travel insurance with medical coverage.

  • Your Passport: Must be Valid for up to 3 months for short-term visas and 1.5 years for long-term visas.

  • Proof of Travel: Round trip or return flight tickets.

  • Proof of Accommodation: Hotel bookings, campus residence reservation, etc., if you are staying with a friend or relative – proof of sponsorship/sponsorship letter.

  • Proof of Finances: Bank statements (past 3 months), income tax returns, payslips (past 3 months), employer’s contract or statement of approval for the holiday.

  • Written Consent Certified By Public Notary: For minors travelling alone. Must be signed by the parent/legal guardian.

Greece Visa Fee for Indians: Cancellation Fees and Overstay Fines

While there are no cancellation fees, your Greece visa fees are non-refundable once paid. Greece is also known for applying very high fines of EUR 600 to EUR 1,200 (approx ₹54,300 - ₹1,08,601) on visa overstays.

So, if you overstay past your visa due date, whether intentional or unintentional, it does not go unnoticed. Immigration authorities record all overstays within their databases, even if it is just for a day.

You can also be deported, blacklisted, or be imposed an entry ban of 3 years where all future visa applications will not be admissible – for your visa violations.
