Indians can stay in Nepal for an indefinite period without a visa. However, it is advisable that once you are in Nepal, you register yourself with the Indian Embassy there. 1. Vehicles registered in India are allowed to stay in Nepal for 30 days a year.
2. When you enter Nepal, you will have to buy a pass for the number of days you intend to stay in the country.
3. You can tour Nepal for one day without paying any customs duty by obtaining a Day Pass at the border. However, if you opt for a Day Pass, then you must ensure that you return to India on the same day and return the Pass to Nepal Customs.
4. The charges per day can vary between ₹100 and ₹500 per day, depending on the type of vehicle.
5. In case of any unplanned extension of stay, make sure that you approach the closest Nepal Customs Office and apply for an extension.

Indians enjoy a special visa-free entry into Nepal. Hence, there is no requirement for any visa application. However, if you are travelling for employment or other extended activities, you must register yourself with the Indian Embassy. Here are some steps to follow:

• **Step 1**: Visit the Indian Embassy website and fill out the application form and take a printout of the same.
  

• **Step 2**: Book an online appointment for submitting the application at the Embassy.  Under the services section, select ‘Consular Services’ and then select the option ‘Registering as Indian National.’
  

• **Step 3**: On the scheduled date, visit the Embassy with the application form, passport, and all other necessary documents and complete the registration formalities.
  

Note: Students residing in Nepal for academic purposes must fill out the online form for registration.

While there is no need for Indians to obtain a visa to visit Nepal, they must possess certain documents as required by the Nepal government to prove their identity.

2. Indian voter ID card with photograph. The ID card must be issued by the Election Commission of India.
3. Emergency Certificate (issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu).
4. Identity Certificate (issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu).
5. Birth Registration Certificate (for minors).
6. School Identity Card (children below 18 years).
7. Indian citizens above 65 years and below 15 years may submit any document with a photo and date of birth.
8. Students may have to submit additional documents, such as an enrollment letter from the institute or other relevant documents.
9. Those travelling for employment may have to produce an appointment letter provided by the Nepalese company.

1. One must carry the original/hard copy of these documents. A soft copy or printout will not be accepted as proof of identity.
2. The Emergency Identity Certificate issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu can be used only once when travelling back to India.
