Frequently Asked Question
Does health insurance cover regular check-ups or just hospitalisations?
Traditionally, health insurance plans focused mostly on hospitalisations—basically, the big stuff like surgeries or overnight stays. But today, a lot of them now include coverage for regular check-ups, health screenings, and preventive care.
Can I get health insurance if I already have PCOS, thyroid, or other issues?
Yes, you can absolutely get health insurance as these are pre-existing conditions, and most insurers do provide coverage. But there are a few things to keep in mind:
a) You’ll need to declare them when applying. It might feel a bit intimidating, but being honest is super important. It ensures that your claims are smooth later on.
b) There might be a waiting period and exception as per the policy
What kind of insurance should I look for if I plan to start a family soon?
Choose health insurance with maternity coverage, including delivery, prenatal care, and new-born cover. Watch out for waiting periods — usually 1 year to 2 years. Some plans also cover fertility treatments. Start early so you're covered when it matters most. Add your baby to the plan after birth.
If I am in my 30s and planning a family, how much health insurance coverage do I actually need?
The optimum amount of coverage depends on multiple factors like city of residence, lifestyle, family medical history, premium paying capacity etc. however, one should go for at least ₹10–15 lakhs health coverage. It should include maternity, hospitalisation, and new-born care. A family floater plan is ideal just check the waiting period for maternity benefits to ensure you’re covered when you need it.
What is the difference between individual and family floater health insurance?
An individual plan covers one person with a specific sum insured just for them. A family floater shares one sum insured among all family members—like you, your spouse, and kids. It’s cost-effective for young, healthy families.
Women’s health insurance is a specialised insurance policy designed to offer financial protection for women’s unique healthcare needs and medical expenses.
At different life stages, women have unique healthcare requirements. For example, between 25-35 years of age, women may wish to plan their pregnancy and need maternity care.
