A visit to the second richest country in the world with its capital sharing the same name can be quite exciting! Even though Luxembourg is flanked by larger nations like Germany, France and Belgium, this small country boasts plenty of history that is over a thousand years old. For one, Luxembourg is the only Grand Duchy in the world – unlike some other countries, whose official head of state is a king or queen, this nation is governed by a Grand Duke or Duchess!

Also, the old city centre and fortress of Luxembourg have been recognised by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites since 17 December 1994. The city’s Old Quarters are home to a number of popular palaces, castles and other locations, which include the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Grand Ducal Palace and more, offering a glimpse into the nation’s history, architecture and natural beauty.

If Luxembourg is on your wish list and you want to experience the country for its art, culture and greenery, you can start planning your trip to this country with a travel insurance plan for Luxembourg. International travelling insurance can ensure that your trip is financially secure against a range of unprecedented and unforeseen circumstances.

Tata AIG has a wide range of travelling insurance plans for those who want to travel to Luxembourg from India. The Schengen travel insurance for Luxembourg starts at a premium cost of ₹40.82 per day!

Why Do You Need Luxembourg Travel Insurance?

Getting medical aid in a developed country like Luxembourg can be quite expensive. There are three types of visas you can apply for as per the purpose of your visit to enter the country. They are as follows:

1. Airport Transit Visa : Certain non-EU nationals must have a visa for passing through Luxembourg, and an airport transit visa (Visa A) allows you to do so. However, as a holder of this visa, you cannot enter the country; you can only pass through the international zone at the airport.

2. Short Stay Visa: The short stay visa (Visa C) is applicable if you are passing through the country or staying there for an uninterrupted period of a maximum of 90 days for:

  • Visiting family or for tourism
  • A business trip to meet business partners or for negotiations
  • A visit to a conference as a speaker and lecturer, or to exhibitions or fairs
  • As a participant in board meetings for directors
  • Offering professional services within the same business

3. Long Stay Visa :

This visa is also known as Visa D or a long-stay visa and is usually issued for a minimum period of 90 days to a maximum period of 1 year, after which you can choose to apply for an extension if needed. You will need to apply for this visa if you:

  • have temporary authorisation to stay in the country
  • have a work permit to conduct salaried activity there
  • are going to live with a family member who is already an EU citizen.

  • Ensure that you have all the essential documents required for the application to be submitted along with the application form.
