Parking Rules in Rajasthan

Rajasthan RTO parking rules are similar to most of the states in India. Following are the parking rules that vehicle owners have to comply with:

Adherence to Road Safety Standards

Vehicles must be parked in a manner that does not pose a threat, obstruct traffic flow, or create disturbances. Compliance with posted signs and markings indicating proper parking procedures is mandatory.

Prohibited Parking Areas

Vehicles should not be parked in the following locations:

Proximity to road crossings, bends, hilltops, or humpbacked bridges, to ensure visibility and safety.

On footpaths designated for pedestrian use.

Adjacent to traffic lights or pedestrian crossings.

Along main roads with high-speed traffic.

In a manner obstructing other vehicles.

Beside another parked car.

On roads demarcated by a continuous white line, regardless of its nature.

In the vicinity of bus stops, schools, hospitals, or areas demarcated by traffic signs.

On the wrong side of the road.

In zones explicitly marked as no-parking areas.

Proximity to Footpath

While parking, ensure that the vehicle is positioned close to the edge of the footpath, maintaining pedestrian walkways.

Adherence to these regulations is essential for promoting public safety and orderly traffic management.

When are You Liable for Paying Fine for No-Parking in Rajasthan?

Non-compliance with established parking regulations in Rajasthan can result in fines being levied under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The following specific actions are subject to penalties:

Any contravention of the stipulated parking regulations, as outlined above, may lead to monetary fines.

Parking in Designated No-Parking Zones:

Parking vehicles in areas explicitly marked as no-parking zones is strictly prohibited and can result in monetary penalties.

Improper Parking in Public Areas:

Parking vehicles in a manner that causes inconvenience or harm to pedestrians or other road users in public spaces is a punishable offence.

Unlawfully parking vehicles on main roads or footpaths, obstructing the flow of traffic or pedestrian movement, may attract fines.

Non-Functional Parking Lights:

Parking vehicles without functional parking lights is a violation of regulations and can lead to penalties being imposed.

It is essential for vehicle owners to strictly adhere to these parking rules to avoid legal consequences and contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of the traffic system in Rajasthan.

What are the Charges for No-Parking Challan in Rajasthan?

The act of parking one's vehicle in prohibited areas, including sidewalks, cycle tracks, or busy roads, not only poses inherent risks but also causes inconvenience for other road users.

It is important to note that such behaviour is deemed unlawful under Section 122/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. According to Rajasthan RTO parking rules, the specified penalty for parking in designated no-parking zones is as follows:

Current Challan Rate for Improper or Intruding Parking in Rajasthan
For first time ₹500/-
For any subsequent time ₹1,500/-

Parking your vehicle in an unauthorised location may lead to fines under the aforementioned regulations. The Transport Commissioner, who oversees the parking fee committee, is responsible for determining the Rajasthan traffic fine for both two-wheelers and cars and has the authority to adjust the base fee on an annual basis.

If your vehicle is seized and moved by traffic police authorities due to a no-parking violation, towing charges will be applicable. The applicable hauling or towing charges are outlined as follows:

Minimum Towing Charges as per Vehicle Type in Rajasthan
Two-Wheeler ₹100/-
Four-Wheeler ₹200/-

It is important to note that the fines for parking violations, like no-parking fines for two-wheeler fines in Rajasthan or no-parking fines for four-wheelers in Rajasthan, can be different in various states and cities under the no-parking rules of the MV Act.
