As we have discussed above, every vehicle owner in MP is mandated to carry a valid insurance policy when driving/riding on public roads. Therefore, if you don't have insurance for your vehicle, get one right away.

Note that failing to present your insurance documents to the traffic authorities when asked can lead you to pay heavy fines and other legal troubles.

Here is how you can get motor insurance in MP:

Understand Your Requirement

Before initiating the process, it is important to have clarity of your requirements. So, decide whether you want a third-party or a comprehensive bike or car insurance policy.

Although having at least third-party insurance is mandatory for every vehicle owner, a comprehensive insurance plan is a better choice as it offers broader coverage. Therefore, if your budget allows, always prefer having a comprehensive insurance plan.

Collect the Documents from MP RTO

If you don’t already have your four-wheeler registered, get it registered from the MP RTO. Note that your vehicle number is required for the insurance purchase.

Next, gather all your documents, such as vehicle registration papers or RC, address proof, ID proof, etc.

Choose a Reliable Insurance Provider

Once you have all the necessary documents in place, start your search for the best insurance provider. It is one of the most important steps because your level of coverage will be decided by the choice of your insurance provider. Ensure that your chosen insurer is trusted, offers sufficient coverage and has a quick claim settlement process.

Compare Different Policies

Once the insurance company is shortlisted, explore their four wheeler insurance policies. Remember, every policy offers a different set of features that may or may not be needed by your vehicle.

Thus, select a plan that aligns with your budget and requirements. Moreover, you can also use a car insurance calculator to get an approximate estimate of your insurance cost.

Although it is not recommended to choose an insurance scheme based on its price, it is important to ensure that the premiums and deductibles are suitable for your financial condition.

Get Quote

After you are done selecting the right insurance for four wheeler, place your quote. You can conveniently do so online by visiting the official website of your insurance provider.

Purchase and Make Payment

Take your final step and make the payment. If you are purchasing online, you can pay the premium online via any payment method of your choice. You can choose to pay through credit/debit cards, net banking, UPI, and more.

On a successful transaction, you will receive a confirmation message on your registered contact details via email or SMS.

In some cases, your insurance company may require a vehicle inspection before offering insurance for 4 wheeler. This is usually true for second-hand and used vehicles. For those who are wondering, it is done to estimate the right coverage for the vehicle. So, if you are purchasing insurance for a used vehicle, stay prepared for the vehicle inspection.
