Things Covered and Not Covered under Tata AIG’s Maruti Ertiga Insurance

When you choose TATA AIG’s Maruti Ertiga car insurance, you're opting for comprehensive protection that ensures you're covered in a variety of situations. Here’s a look at what is covered and not covered under your policy:

Things Covered under Tata AIG’s Maruti Ertiga Insurance:

1. Own Damage Cover

Your Ertiga car insurance covers damages to your own vehicle due to accidents, collisions, and other unforeseen events. This Own Damage (OD) Cover protects the body, engine, and other vital components of your car.

2. Third-Party Liability Coverage

Under Third-Party Coverage, your policy protects you against damages caused to third-party property, as well as injuries or fatalities caused to third parties due to your vehicle. This is a legal requirement for all vehicles in India.

3. Theft

If your Maruti Ertiga is stolen, your TATA AIG policy will reimburse you for the Insured Declared Value (IDV), which is the market value of your vehicle. This ensures you're financially covered in the event of theft.

4. Natural Calamities

Your Comprehensive Car Insurance policy covers damages caused by natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, or storms, helping to ensure your vehicle is protected during extreme weather events.

5. Man-Made Calamities

If your Ertiga is damaged due to man-made disasters like riots, vandalism, or terrorist attacks, your TATA AIG car insurance will cover the repair costs. Additionally, your policy provides coverage for damages caused by fire resulting from incidents like lightning or explosions.

6. Personal Accident Cover

Your Personal Accident Cover is included for the owner-driver, offering compensation in case of death, disability, or major injury caused due to an accident while driving your Maruti Ertiga.

7. Roadside Assistance

If your Maruti Ertiga breaks down unexpectedly, you can use the Roadside Assistance Cover. It provides towing services, mechanical assistance, or even accommodation if necessary.

Things Not Covered under Tata AIG’s Maruti Ertiga Insurance:

1. Driving Without a Valid Licence

If you’re driving without a valid driver’s licence, no claim will be entertained under your Ertiga car insurance policy.

2. Driving Under the Influence

If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, your Maruti Ertiga insurance will not cover any damages that occur during such a situation.

3. Normal Wear and Tear

Wear and tear of parts such as tyres, brakes, and other consumables is not covered under your policy, as these are considered regular maintenance costs. However, adding Bumper-to-Bumper Cover (Zero Depreciation) ensures that such parts are covered.

4. Commercial Use

Your policy does not cover damages that occur when the vehicle is used for commercial purposes (e.g., transporting goods or passengers for hire).

5. Damages Due to Speeding or Reckless Driving

If the accident happens due to over-speeding, reckless driving, or any traffic violations, your TATA AIG car insurance will not cover the repairs.

6. Damages Due to War or Nuclear Peril

Any damage caused due to war, military action, or nuclear risks is explicitly excluded from your Maruti Ertiga insurance policy.

7. Unlisted Accessories

After-market accessories or custom parts that are not listed in your policy will not be covered. Ensure that all valuable accessories are listed for full protection.

Add-ons for Maruti Ertiga Insurance

When you choose TATA AIG’s Maruti Ertiga car insurance, you have the opportunity to enhance your coverage with several add-ons. These add-ons, also known as riders, provide extra protection for your vehicle, giving you peace of mind in various situations.

Here’s a breakdown of the key add-ons available under your Maruti Ertiga insurance:

1. Bumper-to-Bumper Cover (Zero Depreciation)

Also known as Zero Depreciation Cover, this add-on ensures that your car’s parts are replaced without considering depreciation. When you file a claim, TATA AIG will cover the entire cost of repairs or replacement, excluding your deductible amount. It’s an excellent option to maximise your coverage and avoid depreciation charges on parts.

2. Roadside Assistance Cover

With the Roadside Assistance Cover, you get the benefit of 24/7 emergency services in case your Maruti Ertiga breaks down on the road. This add-on provides help such as towing services, mechanical assistance, and other necessary support when you're stuck in a remote location. It’s a practical addition for drivers who want added support in case of emergencies.

3. Personal Accident Cover for Owner-Driver

This cover offers personal accident protection for the owner-driver of the vehicle. In case of death or permanent disability resulting from an accident, this add-on ensures that you or your beneficiaries are compensated. The Personal Accident Cover is an essential addition for anyone looking for comprehensive protection.

4. Engine Secure Cover

The Engine Secure Cover is crucial for those who live in areas prone to flooding or waterlogging. This add-on helps cover the costs of damage to the engine, which isn’t covered under the standard Comprehensive Car Insurance. It’s an ideal choice for added engine protection against water ingress or other similar risks.

5. Consumables Cover

The Consumables Cover helps reimburse you for the replacement of consumables such as engine oil, brake fluid, air-conditioning gas, and other necessary fluids after an accident. These consumables are typically excluded from a standard claim, but with this add-on, you can ensure you are financially protected for the replacement costs.

6. No Claim Bonus (NCB) Protection

With NCB Protection, you can retain your No Claim Bonus (NCB) discount even after filing a claim. This add-on ensures that you won’t lose your NCB status if you make a claim, allowing you to continue receiving discounts on your premium during subsequent policy renewals.

7. Tyre Secure Cover

This add-on covers the repair or replacement costs of damaged tyres or tubes due to accidents. If your tyres are damaged, you don’t have to worry about the repair expenses, as TATA AIG will reimburse the costs for you.

8. Key Replacement Cover

If you lose your car keys or if your keys are stolen, the Key Replacement Cover will cover the cost of replacing your car keys. This add-on is a practical option for anyone concerned about losing their keys or dealing with the inconvenience of having to replace them.

9. Loss of Personal Belongings Cover

The Loss of Personal Belongings Cover helps you recover the cost of personal items lost or damaged in an accident. Items such as clothing, electronics, or other personal belongings can be covered under this add-on, but it excludes items like money, jewellery, and credit cards.

10. Return to Invoice Cover

In the event that your Maruti Ertiga is written off due to total loss or theft, the Return to Invoice (RTI) Cover helps you recover the invoice value of your car, which includes the registration charges and road tax paid at the time of purchase. This add-on helps close the gap between the Insured Declared Value (IDV) and the actual amount paid for the car.

Go the extra mile with style

The Ertiga was initially launched in 2012 as a ‘Life Utility Vehicle’, and it has gained immense popularity. Recently, Maruti announced a sales milestone of 5.5 lakh units, making the Ertiga the most loved MPV in the country. It is also the only MPV in India that comes with a factory-fitted CNG option after the diesel variants were discontinued earlier this year thanks to the BS6 mandate.

Even though the Ertiga is a 7-seater, it is extremely agile and feels no different than driving a Swift. The compact dimensions and good all-round visibility make it easy to drive and park even in our congested cities. Out on the highway, the car offers an extremely smooth ride irrespective of whether you are seated in the first, second, or third row. The Ertiga is supremely comfortable for long distances.

The structure of the monocoque chassis makes ingress and egress easy, even for those seated in the third row, thanks to a big rear door and a one-touch fold-and-slide option. Unlike in other MPVs, the third row is very comfortable, with good seat height and legroom for two people. The 209-litre boot space (with the third row folded) is capacious enough to take the entire family’s luggage.

Under the hood, the Ertiga is available with a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre 1462 cc K15B smart hybrid petrol engine producing 103bhp. While the petrol MT options give a mileage of 20.51 kmpl, the AT options deliver 20.3 kmpl. The CNG version returns a mileage of 26.11 km/kg. Other features that come standard with the Ertiga include MID With Coloured TFT, Anti-Theft Device, Central Locking, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Hill Assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and more.

Insuring your Ertiga

To know the estimated premium cost for your Maruti car insurance premium, get the IDV from your local Arena dealership and use the car insurance premium calculator found on the Tata AIG website. You can select the loan value and tenure for Ertiga car insurance based on your budget and financial planning. The cost of Ertiga insurance for the LXi variant is about Rs 22,500, and for the top-end Ertiga ZXi + AT variant it’s estimated at Rs 27,000 (both exclusive of GST).

In addition to a comprehensive third-party and own damage cover, TATA AIG offers several add-on covers. These include an accidental death benefit, consumables cover, depreciation reimbursement, roadside assistance, daily allowance for the alternate vehicle, emergency transport, engine secure, tyre secure, key replacement, loss of personal belongings, reimbursement of accessory fittings, and return to invoice. Opting for add-on covers for your Maruti Suzuki insurance ensures complete protection against all kinds of issues.

Over a period of time, you can bring down the Maruti Ertiga car insurance cost thanks to the no-claim bonus (NCB) cover. For every claim-free year, you can get a discount on premium up to 10% for a single year, going all the way up to 50% over a cumulative five-year period if no claims are made during that time.

Maruti Ertiga Insurance: Claim Process

If you're insured with TATA AIG for your Maruti Ertiga, making a claim is an easy process, whether you're dealing with minor repairs or major damages.

Here’s a quick guide to help you through the Maruti Ertiga insurance claim process:

Step 1: File the Claim

To begin your claim, you can either file it online via our Claims Support page or call TATA AIG at 022 6489 8282. After you file the claim, we will send you a link for self-inspection on your registered mobile number, so you can easily assess the damages to your vehicle.

Step 2: Vehicle Inspection

Once you've filled out the self-inspection form, a TATA AIG surveyor will inspect your Maruti Ertiga. This may be done through the self-inspection process or an in-person assessment, depending on the severity of the damage. We ensure a thorough review to process your Maruti Ertiga car insurance claim correctly.

Step 3: Choose Your Repair Option

After the inspection, you can choose from two options:

1. Cashless Repair: Opt for repairs at one of TATA AIG's network garages, and we’ll handle the payment directly with the garage, minus your deductible. This makes it easier to get the repairs done without any upfront costs.

2. Reimbursement Repair: If you choose to go to a non-network garage for repairs, you'll pay for the work yourself and submit the bills for Maruti Ertiga insurance reimbursement.

Step 4: Submit Required Documents

To process your claim, you'll need to provide the following documents:

Completed Claim Form

FIR (if applicable for theft or third-party accidents)

Policy Documents

Proof of Identity and Address

Repair Bills (for reimbursement claims)

Ensure that these documents are ready to avoid any delays in processing your claim.

Step 5: Track the Claim Status

Once your claim is submitted, you can track its progress online. We'll keep you updated at every stage so you can stay informed.

Step 6: Claim Settlement

Once everything is verified and meets the policy guidelines, TATA AIG will settle your claim promptly. Whether it's a cashless claim or reimbursement, we’ll make sure you’re compensated fairly, as per the Maruti Ertiga car insurance policy.

Types of Insurance Plans for Maruti Ertiga Insurance

When choosing insurance for your Maruti Ertiga, TATA AIG offers three distinct types of policies. Each policy provides varying levels of coverage, ensuring you can select one that meets your specific needs.

Let's explore each type of coverage and understand their benefits:

1. Comprehensive Car Insurance

The Comprehensive Car Insurance plan is the most inclusive option, covering both third-party liabilities and own damage. This plan protects your Maruti Ertiga against a wide range of incidents, including accidents, theft, and natural disasters. It's the ideal choice for those seeking all-round protection for their vehicle.

Key Benefits of Comprehensive Car Insurance:

Third-party coverage: Protection for injury, death, or damage to third-party property caused by your car.

Own damage coverage: Covers repairs for damage to your Maruti Ertiga caused by accidents, theft, vandalism, or natural calamities.

Add-on options: You can further customise your plan with add-ons like Bumper to Bumper (Zero Depreciation), Roadside Assistance, and more.

Cashless repairs: Access to a network of approved garages for cashless claim services.

2. Standalone Own Damage Insurance

If you already have a third-party insurance policy, you can opt for Standalone Own Damage Insurance. This plan covers only damage to your own vehicle, ensuring that if your Maruti Ertiga is involved in an accident or is damaged due to theft or natural events, you can claim for the repairs.

Key Benefits of Standalone Own Damage Insurance:

● Covers only damage to your vehicle, with no coverage for third-party liabilities.

● Option to opt for cashless claims at network garages for faster processing.

● Can be purchased alongside third-party insurance for a broader coverage plan.

3. Third-Party Car Insurance

As mandated by law in many countries, including India, third-party car insurance is the minimum level of coverage required to drive your Maruti Ertiga on public roads. This policy provides basic coverage for third-party liabilities, including damage to other people's property or injury to third parties. It is the most affordable option, but it does not cover your own vehicle in the event of an accident, theft, or damage.

Key Benefits of Third-Party Car Insurance:

● Covers third-party bodily injury or death caused by your vehicle.

● Pays for third-party property damage caused by your car.

Mandatory by law for all vehicles in India, making it the minimum requirement for
