Recent Risks Around Citroen Cars & Why Insurance Is a Must in India?
Frequency of Road Accidents: In 2024, 4.87 lakh road traffic accidents were reported in India, according to the Ministry of Road Transport. As the likelihood and frequency of accidents are so high, Citroen insurance is a must for every car buyer.
Broad Financial Protection: A car insurance plan pays for repairs, spare parts, and the replacement in the event of a total loss. It covers a wide range of risks, including accidents, fire, theft, vandalism, floods, earthquakes, etc., providing financial security to Citroen car owners.
Legal Requirement: Getting car insurance is also mandatory by law. The Motor Vehicles Act makes it compulsory to have third-party insurance coverage to drive any motor vehicle in India legally. Disobeying the law results in fines up to ₹4000 or even jail time up to 3 months.
Theft Protection: Vehicle theft is a major and rising problem in the country. Citroen motor insurance protects your purchase by compensating the market value of your car if it’s stolen.
Coverage Against Natural Disasters: Natural disasters, such as monsoon floods, seasonal cyclones, earthquakes, heavy snowfall, landslides, etc., cause severe and total damage to your car. By getting car insurance online, you can easily secure your Citroen from damage or complete loss from natural disasters.
Personal Accident Coverage: Road accidents are some of the deadliest accidents in the country, causing 1.77 lakh fatalities in 2024. As the fatality rate increases each year, Citroen car owners require personal accident coverage to protect their loved ones’ future.

How Do You Calculate Your Citroen Insurance Premium?
The premium of a Citroen insurance plan depends mostly on the type of policy. Third-party insurance rates are fixed for all insurers as per IRDAI’s mandate, while insurers are free to set their rates for own damage and comprehensive plans. Factors such as add-ons, discounts and coverage limits, as well as your Citroen car’s make, model, age, condition, etc., also affect insurance costs.
The car insurance premium calculator is a simple tool used to estimate premium costs for your selected insurance terms. Enter the following values into the tool to know your costs:
- Car registration number
- Make, model and variant of your chosen vehicle
- Year of manufacture and registration
- Existing policy number and NCB discounts
- Cost of all selected add-ons

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best insurance for a Citroen car in India
The best car insurance for a Citroen depends on the coverage you want, specific features offered and your budget. You should research all available options and choose the best plan based on the Insurance Declared Value offered, add-on covers, No Claim Bonus and other discounts. To choose the best insurer, check their Claim Settlement Ratio, cashless garage network size and quality of services.
Which is better- third-party, comprehensive or own damage plan?
Comprehensive plans are the best for anyone looking for total financial protection. They are perfect for expensive vehicles and cars that are used frequently. Third-party insurance plans are the cheapest, making them suitable for anyone with a tight budget or vehicles with low market value. If you already have third-party insurance, an own damage plan is the perfect choice.
What insurance is best for a 7-year-old car
For a 7-year-old car with low market value or poor condition, a third-party plan can be suitable as it meets legal requirements. However, if you use your old car regularly, a comprehensive plan is a better choice as it protects the vehicle from a wide range of risks.
How to get car insurance quotes for a Citroen?
You can get quick premium quotes from TATA AIG using our car insurance calculator. To get a quote, open the calculator page and enter your Citroen car’s registration number. After the tool fetches the car details, confirm them and enter the required vehicle and personal details. Finally, choose your plan and add-ons from the available options and check the premium quote.
Is a higher IDV better for a Citroen car?
No, a higher IDV is not always better for a car insurance policy. Choosing an unrealistically high IDV may lead to overinsurance, and the insurer may not cover an unreasonably high payout based on your chosen IDV. This would inflate your premiums for no additional benefit. That’s why insurers offer an acceptable IDV range based on the market value of your car, suitable for insurance.
Are Citroens expensive to insure?
No, Citroen cars usually have relatively low premium costs as they mostly belong in the budget segment. Note that while the costs of third-party plans are fixed for a given Citroen car, own damage and comprehensive premiums may vary considerably. Factors like the age, condition and repair costs of your car, as well as your selected add-ons, coverage limits and discounts affect the premium price.
