HSRP Delhi

Delhi, the vibrant capital of the country, is home to over 2 crore people. From deep history to cultural diversity, Delhi has it all and is thus a popular tourist spot and place to live.

However, given the rush of the street markets in Delhi, the traffic congestion can almost get crazy. The intensity of traffic congestion increases almost every day due to the population and urban developments.

This solidifies the need for proper road safety and a robust transport system. For the same reason, the implementation of high-security number plates in Delhi was needed.

Today, HSRP in Delhi is mandatory, along with other essential documents like a valid RC, DL, and insurance for a four-wheeler or two-wheeler. Here is all you should know about the process of getting an HSRP sticker in Delhi for your vehicle.

Things to Know Before Applying for High-Security Number Plate in Delhi

A high-security number plate in Delhi is mandatory for all vehicles, especially the ones purchased before April 2019. This is because the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has now implemented the amendments in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.

The Delhi government allows you to register for an HSRP via both online and offline methods, making it highly convenient for everyone.

The HSRP colour-coded stickers in Delhi are also compulsory by the government as they confirm vehicle fuel type and help with faster identification.

The key differences between an ordinary vehicle number plate and an HSRP in Delhi include a chromium-based hologram of Ashoka Chakra on the top left, tamper-proof specifications, secure snap-in locks, and much more.

All the HSRPs come with a different and unique identification number for all vehicles, ensuring proper monitoring at all times.

A fine of ₹5,000 for first-time offence and ₹10,000 for repeated offence is applicable for all vehicle owners without an HSRP.
