There are mainly two types of visas available for Germany: short-term visa (Schengen Visa Type-C), and long-term visa (Type -D).

Following are the visa requirements for each visa category depending on the duration and purpose of the visit:

Passport: You must have a passport with a validity of at least three months. If you do not have a passport or your passport has expired, then it is advisable to renew or apply for it at the earliest.

Visa Application Form: You must have a carefully filled and correct visa application form according to your duration of stay.

Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is another useful requirement for obtaining a visa to Germany. It should be recognised in all the Schengen countries and must offer enough coverage.

Passport-size Photos: You must provide at least 3 passport-sized photos as per the specifications provided.

Proof of Funds: Depending on your duration of stay, you must also provide proof of financial sufficiency to support the entire duration of your stay in Germany. You must have at least €45 (~ ₹4,000) per day for your entire stay.

Return Tickets: One of the most important documents required for a Germany tourist visa from India is a copy of confirmed return tickets. Thus, book your flights for round-trip to avoid any inconvenience.

Proof of Accommodation: You also need to submit your proof of accommodation, such as hotel/Airbnb bookings.

Travel Itinerary: Apart from the above mentioned documents, you are also required to submit your detailed travel itinerary in Germany and any other Schengen country you are planning to explore on your trip.

Offer Letter: Those applying for a work visa must have an offer letter from a registered German employer.

Educational Certificates: Educational certificates such as your university degrees, accolades, and marksheets are also required.

Employment Contract: You also need to submit an employment contract provided by your German employer. It should state your employment details and duration of your employment.

Letter of Acceptance: You must provide a letter of acceptance from a well-recognised German university.

Blocked Account: As proof of financial sufficiency, you are required to show a blocked account with a fund of €11,200.

For Retired Applicants: Last three months of pension.

For Family Reunion Visa: Proof of relationship, letter of sponsorship, ID/address/employment proof of sponsor, bank statements of sponsor, etc.
