RTO Rajasthan

If you have ever registered a vehicle, renewed a driving licence, or paid road tax in Rajasthan, it is likely that you have dealt with the Regional Transport Office. The RTO of Rajasthan maintains the state’s road network for an efficient, safe, and law-abiding road system. Established under Section 213(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it complies with national transport laws and maintains an updated vehicle database across the state.

Beyond just registrations and licences, RTO Rajasthan represents the government. Across major cities such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Kota, the RTO’s services are essential for both new vehicle owners and existing motorists. As one of India’s largest states, Rajasthan depends on an efficient transport authority to regulate thousands of vehicles that traverse its highways daily.

A total of 45 RTO offices (currently active) are located throughout the state, and each of them has a unique Rajasthan RTO code. Continue reading to learn more about how the RTO Office Rajasthan operates.

Functions of the RTO Office Rajasthan

  • Driving Licence: The Rajasthan RTO, like every other Regional Transport Office, is responsible for issuing driving licences. It issues four types of licences: learner's, permanent (issued once the learner's licence term is over), commercial driving licence, as well as an international driving licence. Aside from granting these licences, it also deals with licence renewal, issuing duplicate licences, and conducting driving tests.

  • Road Tax: The government levies certain vehicle-related taxes. One such levy is the Road tax. Every Regional Transport Office Rajasthan is responsible for collecting road tax. This action is basically conducted when registering an automobile for the first time.

  • Automobile Inspection: The RTO in Rajasthan also ensures that automobiles on the road comply with the rules outlined in the 1988 Motor Vehicles Act. It conducts regular inspections for this.

  • Road Safety: Accidents on the road are one of the top causes of mortality worldwide. The RTO Rajasthan guarantees that road safety measures are implemented in accordance with the 1988 Motor Vehicles Act. The RTO Rajasthan also carries out several campaigns and programmes for this purpose.

  • Vehicle Registration: One of the primary tasks is to maintain a database of vehicles and their drivers. It's generally done during the automobile registration process. Every new automobile operating on the streets of Rajasthan must be registered with the Rajasthan RTO. Vehicle information is regularly maintained and managed by the officials.

  • Step 3: In most cases, the inspection is performed by the authorised dealer when the vehicle is being sold. If it's not done, then a trained and certified RTO inspector will check your vehicle.
  • Step 4: Following verification of the inputs, the Rajasthan RTO office assigns a unique registration number for your automobile.
