Traffic Fines in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is the financial capital of Gujarat. It is one of the most developed cities in the country that offers a beautiful amalgamation of modernity and rich culture.

Since it is a major centre of tourism, trade and education, it attracts people from all over the country. This, in turn, results in a higher number of vehicles on the roads, which means more traffic.

But despite dense traffic, the rate of traffic violations in the city is within control, all thanks to the efficient traffic management system of Ahmedabad.

The traffic management authorities in Ahmedabad encourage people to abide by the traffic laws and penalise them heavily for violating even the basic traffic rules, such as breaking a signal, riding without a helmet or two-wheeler insurance policy, and so on.

In this post, we will list down all types of traffic fines in Ahmedabad along with sharing some other useful information about the same. Read on!

New Traffic Rules in Ahmedabad

The traffic regulations in Ahmedabad have evolved over time with the objective of streamlining the traffic flow and enhancing road safety.

After the commencement of the Motor Vehicles Act in 2019, the traffic fines have increased significantly in the city. Not just that, many new traffic rules have also been added to the list.

In the section below, you will find the revised RTO rules in Ahmedabad for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

New Four-Wheeler Traffic Rules in Ahmedabad

Always Carry Necessary Documents: Similar to a driving licence, every driver in Ahmedabad is mandated to carry a few other documents, such as a PUC, vehicle RC, motor insurance certificate, etc.

You can check out the driving without licence fine in Ahmedabad in the next section.

Always Wear Seatbelt: Under the new traffic rules in Ahmedabad, every four-wheeler driver is mandated to wear a seatbelt while driving. Not just the driver, but passengers must wear a seatbelt to protect themselves against the potential risks on the road.

Avoid Overspeeding: It is not a hidden fact that the majority of road accidents happen because of overspeeding. To stop this, the Transport Department of India has introduced speed limits for particular areas. As a responsible driver, you must follow these speed limits; otherwise, you will have to pay the fines and penalties.

No Mobile Phones While Driving: Using mobile phones or any other devices while driving leads to distraction, which takes away the control of your vehicle, resulting in road accidents. Therefore, the usage of mobile phones is strictly prohibited while driving/riding in Ahmedabad.

Parking Rules: Ahmedabad is a highly organised city. You are not allowed to park your vehicle in spaces other than the designated parking areas. If you do it otherwise, be ready to attract a lump sum no parking fine in Ahmedabad.

Avoid Driving if Intoxicated: Driving after consuming alcohol or any other kind of intoxicated substance is extremely dangerous for your life. Not only that, but it can also risk the lives of other people on the road. Besides, it is a serious traffic violation that can lead to up to 6 months of imprisonment alongside hefty fines. You can check out the table below to learn about the drink and drive fine in Ahmedabad.

New Two-Wheeler Traffic Rules in Ahmedabad

Always Wear Helmet: A helmet is an important bike accessory that protects you from dangerous road accidents. As per the new traffic rules in Ahmedabad, every two-wheeler rider must wear a suitable helmet; otherwise, he/she will be levied a heavy fine. If you don’t already know, the fine for not wearing a helmet in Ahmedabad is ₹1,000.

No Tripling: Triple riding is a serious traffic offence in Ahmedabad. Besides, it is dangerous for the rider as well as the pillion passengers. It can result in significant penalties.

Always Carry Necessary Documents: If you want to ride legally in Ahmedabad, you must carry the mandatory documents, such as a valid driving licence, bike insurance policy, vehicle registration certificate, PUC, and so on.

No Race Trials: Bikers are often seen indulging in dangerous racing activities. But not anymore. If you are caught being a part of such notorious activities, you will have to suffer serious legal actions along with fines.

No Unnecessary Honking: Honking is a major cause of noise pollution. If you have a habit of blowing horns very often, be aware that unnecessary honking in Ahmedabad can attract fines as high as ₹500.

Imposing E-Challan in Ahmedabad

E-challans are an integral part of the traffic management system not just in Ahmedabad or Gujarat but in the entire country. Now, instead of issuing a paper-based ticket to the traffic violators, the traffic authorities can issue an e-challan on the registered details of the offender after detecting the traffic offence automatically.

For example, if you are found to be overspeeding, you will receive an e-challan via SMS or email on your registered mobile number.

Note that you must pay the traffic fines mentioned in the challan within 60 days of its issuance. Failure to do so can attract additional penalties and legal actions against you. Also Read: E-challan Ahmedabad
