Coimbatore Traffic Fines: New Traffic Rules in Coimbatore

As Coimbatore falls under the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Traffic Fines for Tamil Nadu are applicable for the city. The new Motor Vehicles Act has not only increased the traffic fines for some traffic offences but has also added a few new regulations to the list.

Since, the main objective of imposing traffic rules is to enhance road safety and encourage responsible driving. Therefore, every citizen of Coimbatore must be aware of the latest traffic rules in the city.

New Four-Wheeler Traffic Rules in Coimbatore

Avoid Overspeeding: Overspeeding may offer a temporary thrilling experience, but it can be extremely dangerous for you, as well as the other drivers and non-drivers on the road. As a matter of fact, it is a primary reason behind the majority of life-threatening road accidents in the country. Hence, always drive within the specified speed limit.

Always Wear Seatbelts: Road accidents can also happen because of the faults of other drivers. Hence, it becomes important to take all the safety precautions before taking your vehicle on public roads. This is why wearing seat belts has been made mandatory for drivers as well as the co-passengers.

Avoid Unnecessary Honking: If you have a habit of blowing your horn very frequently, consider giving up on it. Unnecessary honking is a traffic violation in Coimbatore and can lead to fines and penalties.

Carry Necessary Documents: Every four-wheeler owner in Coimbatore must carry the necessary documents, such as a valid driving licence, motor insurance policy, PUC and fitness certificate, along with another licence. Anyone who fails to present these documents when asked is likely to face heavy fines.

Avoid Blocking Emergency Vehicles: Blocking the path of emergency vehicles like an ambulance or a fire-fighting vehicle is a serious traffic offence in Coimbatore that can lead to fines up to ₹10,000 along with penalties, including imprisonment.

New Two-Wheeler Traffic Rules in Coimbatore

No Triple Riding: Triple riding is considered a traffic violation not just in Coimbatore but all across the country. If you are found riding more than one pillion rider, you will be issued with a challan and some other actions might also be taken against you.

Always Wear Helmet: You can not ride a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet in Coimbatore. Doing so will attract fines and other penalties.

No Race Trials and Overspeeding: Race trials can be life-threatening, and so is overspeeding. Both of these traffic offences can even land you in prison. So, ride within the speed limits and avoid indulging in dangerous bike racing activities.

Carry Necessary Documents: Similar to four-wheeler drivers, two-wheeler riders are also mandated to carry documents such as a driving licence, valid insurance for 2 wheeler, vehicle RC, PUC, etc.

Avoid Using Mobile Phones When Riding: The use of a mobile phone or any other device while riding can result in distraction, which increases the chances of getting into tragedies like road accidents. To put a halt to this risk, the transport ministry of India has introduced heavy fines for using mobile phones while riding and driving
