Traffic Fines in Gurugram

Gururgam is known for its bustling city life and well-developed infrastructure, accommodating a mix of rural and urban landscapes effectively.

In light of the city’s constant efforts to promote maximum urbanisation, the Gurugram traffic police are always on the lookout for increasing road safety while ensuring a smooth road network throughout the city.

At present, the city is home to popular, well-connected expressways and highways that increase the interconnectivity within the state. This includes NH8 and the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

However, even with this expansive road infrastructure, the increasing population in the city has made it crucial to maintain and monitor traffic congestion at all times.

The Gurgaon traffic police challan system is well-equipped to promote effective traffic management. The list of inclusions within this system is CCTV monitoring, intelligent traffic systems, adaptive traffic signals, etc.

Updated Traffic Rules by Gurugram Traffic Police

Similar to any other city traffic police authorities, the Gurugram traffic police is dedicated to providing the people of the city with a safe driving environment. For the same reason, they are always on the lookout for increasing road safety with the implementation of strict traffic rules.

Moreover, they keep a close eye on all vehicles in the city to monitor all violations on the spot and penalise the offenders with heavy fines.

Some of the updated traffic rules in the city include the following:

Wearing a Seatbelt - One of the most crucial traffic rules is wearing a seatbelt for the driver and the front passenger.

Not wearing a seatbelt while driving is not only dangerous for the driver but also for the passengers, as sudden brakes and turns can cause jerks in the body, resulting in injuries.

No Drinking and Driving - Another common cause of the increasing number of accidents in the city was riding or driving after the consumption of alcohol or other harmful substances. Therefore, another important traffic rule is no drinking and driving.

These substances hinder the mind’s ability to focus and drive safely on the road with proper vehicle control, resulting in unsafe road conditions for other vehicles and pedestrians. As a penalty, the driver is issued a court order.

Wearing a Helmet - Similar to four-wheelers with a seatbelt, a two-wheeler rider and pillion rider must wear a helmet at all times when on the road for personal safety.

This is necessary as two-wheelers are compact but require quick movements and brakes in necessary situations, increasing the risk of head injuries due to jerks.

No Use of Mobile Phones while Driving - Regardless of the vehicle category, using mobile phones while driving is strictly prohibited in Gurugram. If found guilty, the offender may have to pay a fine of ₹5000 to ₹10,000.

No Tinted Window Glasses - No vehicle is allowed to have tinted covers on their windows. This is a significant traffic rule in Gurugram, and the traffic police are very particular about this regulation and require every vehicle to show at least 70% window visibility into the vehicle.

Proper Vehicle Number plates - All vehicle number plates need to be in proper condition at all times with proper compliance with the laws. This includes the visibility of each element on the number plate, the availability of all necessary numbers and alphabets, etc.

How to Pay Gurugram Traffic Challan?

To promote accountable driving on the roads of Gurugram, the city traffic authorities have now implemented an e-challan system.

With this new-age technology, all traffic violations are monitored thoroughly, and the issuance facility of this system makes it easy to update the drivers about the different violations by notifying them directly via emails and text messages.

Moreover, each e-challan is prepared using all the necessary information regarding any violation, from the place and time of violation to the payment methods. This allows maximum convenience to make the due payment within 60 days from the date of challan issuance.

Find the online and offline methods to make challan payments below:

Online Method: Using the Parivahan Portal

  • Go to the official Parivahan website.

  • Locate the “Online Services” option from the top bar and select “e-challan” from the drop-down menu.

How to Choose an Insurance Policy for a Bike?

Gurugram is often tied down by the rising traffic congestion in the city, especially during peak hours between 7-9 am and 6-8 pm.

Other than the e-challan system, the Gurugram traffic police are very particular about the availability of vehicles and personal documents with all the drivers. One important document is valid insurance. As per the Motor Vehicles Act, third-party bike insurance is mandatory to ride on the streets of Gurugam.

However, this category of insurance only protects third parties from damage and loss incurred due to the insured vehicle. Personal vehicle loss and damage are not covered under this plan.

To help protect your bike from accidental damage or loss, Tata AIG offers both third-party and first-party bike insurance plans. With our first-party or comprehensive bike insurance policies, riders can benefit from a financial safety net in case of unforeseen circumstances that come bearing a heavy financial burden.

Moreover, we offer everyone the flexibility of purchasing and customising 2-wheeler insurance online in just a few steps. Compare different plans and choose the most appropriate one based on your needs with Tata AIG.
