Traffic Fines in Jaipur

Jaipur, popularly known as "The Pink City", is one of the most visited tourist destinations in India. People across the globe flock to this beautiful city to explore its vibrant bazaars, majestic forts, temples and palaces, rich history and renowned wildlife sanctuaries.

With an increased number of people visiting the city and more and more individuals considering Jaipur as an excellent employment opportunity, the number of vehicles on roads has increased. This led the state of Rajasthan to impose stringent traffic regulations and comprehensive fines to ensure vehicle and individual safety.

In India, all aspects of road transport vehicles, including the rules, regulations and fines, are regulated by the Motor Vehicles Act. The Road Transport Offices (RTOs) are located in every state and, along with the traffic police, work in tandem under the Motor Vehicles Act to maintain road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Read on to learn more about traffic rules in Jaipur, along with the city's traffic fine list.

Imposing E-Challan in Jaipur

The Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 was amended recently to ensure better road discipline. The amendments were accepted across the country and hence imposed by the respective state authorities. In order to ensure that the new ruling is followed, the Rajasthan traffic police, including Jaipur, introduced e-challan.

E-challan is an electronic challan system wherein traffic rule offenders can pay fines quickly. If you are found disobeying any traffic rules you will be issued with an e-challan. Hence, it is crucial to get well acquainted with the traffic rules to avoid any penalties. Moreover, ensure that you always carry your mandatory documents like driving licence, registration certificate, insurance copies, PUC documents, etc., to avoid any inconvenience.

The Rajasthan traffic police have installed CCTV cameras or assigned officers at various locations to monitor whether individuals observe traffic regulations. These cameras capture any offences, and the traffic police inform the offenders through SMS services. Upon receiving the e-challan, the offender has 60 days to pay the fine offline or online (on the Parivahan Sewa portal).

For example, if you park your vehicle in the no parking zone, and if there are CCTV cameras installed or you are caught violating a rule, a no parking fine in Jaipur shall be imposed.

Importance of Having Valid Motor Insurance for Adhering to Traffic Rules in Jaipur

As mentioned earlier, adhering to traffic rules in Jaipur is important to ensure you do not receive any challan. One of the important RTO rules in Jaipur to follow is to carry all the mandatory documents while using a vehicle. These documents include a valid driving licence, registration certificate, PUC documents and insurance policy. For example, if you own a bike, having third-party bike insurance can save you from financial implications in case of an accident and also help you adhere to the rules.

Consider a scenario where you purchase a new bike. Having a new bike insurance policy for your prized possession becomes mandatory. Now, if your bike meets with an accident and you own a comprehensive insurance policy for your bike you get financial coverage in case of an accident, damages due to a natural or man-made calamity, or is stolen.

A comprehensive insurance policy is thus recommended as it covers the costs of third-party damages along with other costs. Moreover, buying a 2-wheeler insurance online is also hassle-free and quick.

When you opt for an insurance policy for a bike or car online through a trusted insurance provider like Tata AIG, you get access to features like a bike or car insurance calculator to check the premium payable, initiate claims online, get access to a wide range of network garages for cashless claim, etc.
