E-challan Mehsana is the digital copy of the traffic police challan. It is similar to a physical challan but is issued digitally, and the traffic offender receives it via mail or message. Anyone who violates traffic rules and regulations is issued an e-challan for their offence that they need to pay within its due date.

As per the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, some standard traffic rules for which you can be issued an e-challan include driving without wearing a helmet or seatbelt and driving without DL, RC, or vehicle insurance documents.

Reason for E-challan: E-challan clearly mentions the reason for the issuance of the e-challan. For example, it will mention the details of the offence, such as driving out of speed, driving without a licence, skipping traffic signals, etc.

Place and Date of Offence: The e-challan document clearly mentions the place and date of the offence. It informs you when and where you committed the traffic offence.

Unique Identification Number (UIN): Every e-challan document has its own Unique Identification Number for identification. The number can be used to check your e-challan details online.

• E-challan Mehsana is issued using CCTV camera footage, which is equipped with an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. The ANPR system is connected to the Parivahan portal, from where it retrieves the data of the traffic offender such as their vehicle number and driver’s details.

• If you are caught on the spot, then the traffic officer will give you an e-challan, or you will receive an e-challan notification message on your mobile phone.

• Mehsana traffic police officers are provided with an e-challan sweeping machine; using it they can generate e-challan. The machine also sends a copy of the e-challan to the Parivahan portal for the record.

• Then, the e-challan must be paid within its due date to avoid any further penalties and fines.

Step 1: Go to the official E-challan Parivahan website.

Step 2: Now, you need to fill in your challan number, vehicle number or DL number as requested.

Step 4: Details of your e-challan with its payment amount will be displayed on the screen. Verify the details and proceed with payment.

Step 5: Once the payment is done successfully, download the payment receipt for future proof.

Step 1: Visit the official Commissionerate of Transport, Gujarat website.

Step 2: On the homepage, hover over the “Services” tab and select the “Sarathi E-Payment” option under it.

Step 3: You will be redirected to the Parivahan Sewa webpage. Scroll down to find the “e-challan System” option and click on it.

Step 4: On the page loaded, click on the “Pay Online” option.

Step 5: Here, you need to fill in your challan number, vehicle number or DL number details.

Step 6: Next, enter the given captcha on the screen and hit “Get Detail”, and your e-challan details will be displayed on the screen.

Step 7: Verify your e-challan details and amount and proceed with payment.

Step 8: Once the payment is done, you need to download your payment receipt for future proof.

Via a Traffic Police Officer:

• You can choose to pay your e-challan Mehsana on the spot to the police officer. For example, if you get stopped by the traffic police for a traffic offence and receive a challan, you can choose to pay your challan amount immediately to the same traffic police officer on the spot.

• Another way is to locate a traffic police officer with an e-challan sweeping machine. Approach the officer with your e-challan and driving licence details. Confirm the challan amount from them and pay it in cash. Once the payment has been made, ask for your payment receipt for future reference.

Visit Your Nearest Traffic Police Station:

• Locate and visit the nearest RTO office in Mehsana with your e-challan and driving licence details. Provide the concerned officer with your details to check your challan amount.

• Once the amount is confirmed in your e-challan, ask the officer to provide you with your payment receipt for future proof.

If you have been issued the wrong traffic challan, you can cancel it online. You need to file your complaint on the Grievance System of the Parivahan portal, and you do not have to pay any amount for the e-challan to get it cancelled.
