How to Apply for a Driving Licence in Meghalaya Online?
To apply for driving licence in Meghalaya online, follow the Steps below:
Step 1: Go to the Parivahan Sewa on your mobile phone or desktop.
Step 2: Look for “Online Services” in the top menu bar and then select the “Driving Licence Related Services” option.
Step 3: Once done, select “Shillong” as your state name from the given drop-down menu.
Step 4: Click on “Apply for Driving Licence”.
Step 5: Carefully fill in your DL application form on your screen with accurate information. Also ensure to attach the required documents.
Step 6: Submit your duly filled application and pay the DL fees in Meghalaya using any of your payment options of your choice.
Step 7: Once it's done, take the next important **Step, which is to book the driving licence test slot. In doing so, head back to the homepage of the Sarathi Portal, click “Appointments'', and then select “DL Test Slot Booking”.
Step 8: Once done, select the available slot and pay the fees.
Step 9: The final **Step is to visit the RTO on the scheduled date and take your driving licence test.

Head to your nearest RTO office in your area and get Form 4 or print it from the Sarathi Parivahan website.

Note:** Driving Licences can be obtained 30 days after the Learner's Licence is issued. Driving licences are issued only for the classes of vehicles for which LL has been applied.

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for a Driving Licence in Meghalaya

No individual who is below the age of 18 shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place.
A motorcycle with the engine capacity of no more than 50cc may be driven in a public place by a person aged 16 or older.
No person who is below the age of 18 shall be awarded a licence to operate a motorbike without a gear unless the individual in charge of the person wanting the licence gives written approval.
The minimum age to apply for a commercial motor vehicle licence is 20 years old.

Step 1: Visit the official website of Parivahan Sewa status tracking website
Step 2: Select your state Meghalaya
Step 3: On the top right of the "Apply Online Menu", Select the "Application Status"
Step 4: Fill in the details, including the application number, correct date of birth, and the Captcha.
Step 5: Click on "Submit"
Step 6: You can now view your application status on the screen
How is the Driving Licence Test Conducted in Meghalaya?
The applicant should take a driving test with the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI).
No person shall take the driving competence test unless he/she has held a learner's licence for at least 30 days.
The applicant will be interviewed about road safety and asked a few generic questions. If the test fails, the application may be refused.
If the applicant fails the Driving Licence test, they may be allowed to retake it after seven days. If the candidate fails the test after three attempts, he will be ineligible to retake it until sixty days have passed since the last attempt.
