Driving License - Maharashtra

As per the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, a driving license is a compulsory document that every bike owner needs to possess if they want to use their vehicle legally in any Indian state. In Maharashtra, a driving license is more than just a document for your bike or vehicle; you can also use it as proof of age or as a legal identification document.

Issuing a driving license to eligible bike owners is one of the main responsibilities undertaken by the State Transport Department of Maharashtra. This authority also ensures the smooth functioning of the road transport system all over the state.

Most of the cities, towns and villages in Maharashtra have a large population of bike owners, and in bigger cities like Mumbai and Pune, riding a bike is the swiftest way to commute. This means several driving licenses are issued for bikes that are used in these cities and other locations too.

However, along with a driving license, it is also necessary to have a two-wheeler insurance policy, especially when you are using your bike. This is also one of the legal documents that bike owners must have under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. A bike insurance policy is crucial, primarily because it offers the basic legal third-party coverage that secures losses caused to third-party persons, properties and vehicles by your insured bike.

However, with comprehensive insurance for your 2-wheeler, it is possible to get the mandated third-party coverage and also own-damage coverage for losses caused to your bike. A range of unforeseen losses and damages to your bike can be covered under a comprehensive plan that includes add-ons and a personal accident cover for the owner-driver.

When you buy a bike insurance policy online, be sure to compare two-wheeler insurance policies online to get suitable quotes, affordable premiums and your choice of Tata AIG two-wheeler insurance!
