Hyundai Santro Xing Car Insurance
Hyundai discontinued the Santro Xing in 2014, so every unit on Indian roads is over a decade old. The right Hyundai Santro Xing insurance protects a car that continues to serve many households as a dependable daily runabout.
Many owners still rely on the Santro Xing for everyday commutes, family errands and short city trips. However, an ageing car may need more frequent repairs, especially when rubber components wear out or plastic parts become brittle.
TATA AIG offers Santro Xing car insurance with coverage options to suit your vehicle’s age and condition. You can choose a suitable motor insurance plan with third-party liability cover or own-damage protection, subject to policy terms.
Our network of 6,300+ cashless garages includes authorised Hyundai service centres, giving you access to eligible cashless repairs.
Find Out Your Hyundai Santro Xing Insurance Price
Your Hyundai Santro Xing insurance price depends on its IDV, city, fuel type and No Claim Bonus. Declare any CNG or LPG kit for an accurate quote.
Use the calculator below to estimate your Santro Xing insurance price in a few steps.
How to Buy & Renew Hyundai Santro Xing Car Insurance Online
How to Buy Car Insurance
Step 1: Go to the quote form at the top of this page or log in to the TATA AIG app.
Step 2: Type in your Santro Xing's registration number and click on Get Price.
Step 3: Confirm the model year, variant, fuel type and your contact details.
Step 4: Select your policy type and IDV, then include the add-ons available for cars up to 15 years old.
Step 5: Pay the Hyundai Santro Xing insurance premium and download policy from your email.
Important Tip!
Hyundai stopped making the Santro Xing in 2014, so every unit for sale is second-hand. Transfer the existing policy to your name within 14 days of purchase, or buy fresh car insurance online from TATA AIG. Unlike car insurance for new car purchases, a fresh policy for a pre-owned Santro Xing needs a vehicle inspection.
How to Renew Car Insurance
- Step 1: Go to the renewal option on top of this page or use our mobile app to renew car insurance.
- Step 2: Provide your registration number or the number on your current policy.
- Step 3: Review the renewal quote for your Santro Xing insurance online.
- Step 4: Update add-ons within the limits for your car's age, and declare any CNG or LPG kit fitted since your last policy.
- Step 5: Pay the premium for Hyundai Santro Xing car insurance online and keep a copy of the renewed policy.
Please Note:
Complete your online car insurance policy renewal within 90 days of expiry to keep your No Claim Bonus. Many Santro Xing cars have crossed 15 years, so renew the registration certificate on time. A lapsed policy may need a vehicle inspection before cover resumes.

Why Insure Your Hyundai Santro Xing?
Third-Party Coverage Is a Legal Requirement
Third-party insurance is mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Driving without it can bring a ₹2,000 fine, jail time or both, and you pay any injury or damage claims yourself. For the 1086cc Santro Xing, this cover costs ₹3,416 a year and protects you against covered third-party liabilities, including injuries or property damage caused to others. However, it leaves your own car unprotected.
Repair Bills Add Up on an Ageing Car
Parts for a discontinued model can also take longer to source and cost more. Santro Xing insurance helps cover repair expenses, subject to policy terms.
Access to Authorised Workshops
Hyundai runs 1,675 service touchpoints across 1,025 cities, so help is within reach for most Santro Xing owners. Authorised centres are better placed to source genuine parts for an older model. Our cashless network includes authorised service centres from several car makers, so you avoid paying upfront.
Covers Fire, and Natural and Man-Made Disasters
Monsoon waterlogging can damage a small hatchback's body, while ageing wiring and CNG or LPG kits raise the risk of fire. Santro Xing insurance covers damage caused by floods, fire, storms, earthquakes and riots, subject to policy terms and conditions. You cannot prevent these events, but you can prepare for their financial impact.
Covers Theft and Total Loss
Santro Xings often park on streets, outside offices and in busy markets, where theft is harder to prevent. If your car is stolen or written off, the loss is far greater than the cost of fixing a dent. Santro Xing car insurance can help cover this loss up to the vehicle’s insured declared value (IDV).

Hyundai Santro Xing Insurance: Which Policy Do I Get?
Car Insurance Policies We Offer
Comprehensive Car Insurance
Comprehensive car insurance covers damage to your Santro Xing from accidents, theft, fire and natural disasters, along with third-party injury or property damage liabilities. It is a suitable option if you want protection for your car and coverage for liabilities to others under one policy.
Buy Comprehensive Car Insurance
Third-Party Car Insurance
Third-party car insurance covers your legal liability for injuries, death or property damage caused to others in an accident. The IRDAI rate for the 1086cc Santro Xing is ₹3,416 a year, making it an option for owners seeking the mandatory minimum cover.
Standalone Own Damage Car Insurance
Standalone own-damage 1st party insurance covers damage to your Santro Xing caused by events such as accidents, fire, theft and natural disasters, subject to policy terms. You must have an active third-party policy alongside it, making this option suitable when your existing liability cover remains valid.
Does Your Variant Change Your Insurance Choice?
Every Santro Xing runs on a 1.1-litre petrol engine, with a manual gearbox and an automatic option on the GLS variant. Since all variants fall in the 1000cc to 1500cc band, the third-party premium does not change between them.
Fuel type makes a bigger difference. Factory LPG and CNG variants, and cars with aftermarket kits, need the kit declared in your policy. An undeclared kit can lead to a rejected claim.
Age, condition and parking location also shape the insurance rates for a Hyundai Santro Xing. A well-kept car with original parts and a valid registration certificate is easier to inspect and insure.
What Policy Do I Buy? Insurance for Different Types of Owners
| Owner Type | Recommended Cover | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Low-use second car | Third-party Insurance | Meets the legal requirement at the lowest cost when the car sees little use. |
| Daily city commuter | Comprehensive Insurance + Repair of Glass, Fibre, Plastic and Rubber Parts | Covers bumper, light and window damage from frequent low-speed knocks. |
| First-time or pre-owned buyer | Comprehensive Insurance + Roadside Assistance | Breakdown helps matter on an older car with an unknown service record. |
| CNG or LPG owner | Comprehensive Insurance with the kit declared | Protects the kit against damage and keeps your claims valid. |
| Family owner | Comprehensive Insurance + Emergency Medical Expenses | Pays for treatment and ambulance costs for everyone in the car. |
| Street-parked owner | Comprehensive Insurance + Loss of Personal Belongings | Ageing locks and street parking raise the risk of break-ins and theft. |
| Out-of-town driver | Comprehensive Insurance + Roadside Assistance + Additional Towing Charges | A workshop may be far away when an ageing car breaks down. |
| Car older than 15 years | Third-party, or comprehensive Insurance subject to inspection | Add-ons are not available past this age, and cover depends on the car's condition. |
| Owner with valid third-party cover | Standalone Own Damage Insurance | Protects your car without paying for liability cover twice. |
Please note: Add-on availability depends on vehicle age, eligibility and policy terms.
Hyundai Santro Xing Car Insurance Add-On Covers Worth Buying
Add-ons come with age limits, and the Santro Xing has aged past most of them. What remains are the covers for cars up to 15 years old, and the ones below address what actually goes wrong on a hatchback this age: breakdowns, brittle plastic parts and worn locks.
Add-Ons to Consider for Your Hyundai Santro Xing
- Roadside Assistance: An ageing car is more likely to stall or refuse to start, and the Roadside Assistance add-on brings a mechanic to you for breakdowns, flat tyres and battery trouble.
- Repair of Glass, Fibre, Plastic and Rubber Parts: Bumpers, lamps and windscreens turn brittle with age and attract 50% depreciation on a car this old. The Repair of Glass, Fibre, Plastic and Rubber Parts add-on saves you from paying half the replacement cost.
- Key Replacement: Santro Xing keys and lock sets are no longer sold at every counter. The Key Replacement add-on pays for new keys and locks if yours are lost, stolen or broken into.
- Additional Towing Charges: A breakdown far from a workshop can cost more to tow than the standard ₹1,500 limit. The Additional Towing Charges add-on raises that limit.
- Emergency Medical Expenses: The Santro Xing predates the safety equipment found in newer cars, so the Emergency Medical Expenses add-on matters here. It covers hospital and ambulance costs for you and your passengers after an accident.
- Additional Third-party Property Damage Cover: The size of a claim depends on what you hit, not what you drive. The Additional Third-party Property Damage Cover add-on raises your liability limit above the standard ₹7.5 lakh.
What Affects Your Hyundai Santro Xing Insurance Price
Your Santro Xing insurance price has two parts that work in different ways. IRDAI fixes one part, and it is the same at every insurer.
The other part depends on your car, city and claim record. This is the part you can influence.
The Fixed Part: Third-Party Premium
Santro Xing third-party insurance price follows engine size, not the car's value. The 1086cc Santro Xing falls in the 1000cc to 1500cc band and pays ₹3,416 a year.
Some newer, more expensive Hyundai cars have smaller turbo-petrol engines under 1000cc, so they pay ₹2,094, which is less than the Santro third-party insurance price. This rate is not negotiable and is identical at every insurer.
The Variable Part: Own-Damage Premium
| What Moves It | Why It Matters on a Santro Xing |
|---|---|
| IDV | For cars over five years old, you and the insurer agree to the IDV based on market value. A low IDV keeps the premium down. |
| Car age and condition | Older cars may need an inspection before cover starts. Rust or worn parts can affect your terms. |
| CNG or LPG kit | A declared kit adds its value to your cover and a small cost to your premium. |
| Add-ons | Your car may qualify for add-ons available for cars up to 15 years old, and each one raises the premium. |
| City of registration | Metro-registered cars pay a higher own-damage rate, since dense traffic, tight parking and street parking make accidents and theft more likely. |
| No Claim Bonus | Five claim-free years can earn up to 50% off your own-damage premium. |
| Claim history | On a low IDV, a small claim can cost you more in lost NCB than it pays out. |
Please note: Add-on availability depends on vehicle age, eligibility and policy terms.
What You Can Do
- Set a realistic IDV. It is the most you receive if the car is stolen or written off, so avoid lowering it to save on premium.
- Weigh up own-damage cover. A third-party policy pays nothing for theft. A car is also declared a total loss once repair costs reach 75% of its IDV. At this valuation, that can happen after damage that looks repairable.
- Compare both quotes. The gap between third-party and comprehensive cover is often smaller than expected.
- Pay for minor repairs yourself. This will help protect your No Claim Bonus.
- Ask yourself: if your car were stolen or written off tomorrow, could you afford to replace it?
What IDV Should You Set for Your Hyundai Santro Xing?
IDV is the one figure on your Santro Xing insurance quote form that you choose, and the one owners most often get wrong. Insured Declared Value is the most you receive if your car is stolen or declared a total loss.
Insuring a Discontinued Model
For cars over five years old or discontinued models, you and the insurance company agree to the IDV, rather than applying the standard depreciation table. On a Santro Xing, this figure also decides whether comprehensive cover is worth keeping.
The Trade-Off
| If You Set IDV | Your Premium | If the Car Is Stolen or Written Off |
|---|---|---|
| Low, to save money | Lower | You receive less, and you cover the shortfall. |
| Close to market value | Balanced | You receive enough to buy a similar Santro Xing. |
| Above market value | Higher | Not accepted, as cover cannot exceed the car's worth. |
The write-off point matters more on an older car. A car is declared a total loss when repair costs reach 75% of its IDV. On a Santro Xing, that threshold is low, so damage that looks repairable can cross it.
A low IDV for Santro Xing insurance hurts you twice:
- You get a smaller payout.
- Your car is more likely to be written off rather than repaired.
What IDV to Set on a Hyundai Santro Xing
Base your IDV on the resale value of a Santro Xing of the same year, variant and fuel type in your city. Check used-car listings and adjust for mileage, condition and service history. Declare any CNG or LPG kit separately so its value is covered. Return to Invoice is not an option here, since it applies to cars up to five years old.
Mistakes to Avoid
Avoid setting a low IDV because the car is old. That choice leaves you with a payout that cannot replace your car. If you keep comprehensive cover, set a value that would get you back on the road.
If that value feels too high to insure, third-party cover is the better choice. Review your IDV each time you renew car insurance to keep it close to market value. TATA AIG does not renegotiate IDV at claim time. So, the figure on your policy is the figure we settle on.

- Mechanical or electrical breakdown: Not covered. Every Santro Xing is well past its manufacturer warranty, so these repair costs fall to you.
- Consequential loss: Damage that follows from an earlier failure is excluded.
- War and war-like events: Excluded, along with nuclear risks.
- Loss or damage outside India: Excluded, unless you extend the cover to specific neighbouring countries for an extra premium.
How to File a Hyundai Santro Xing Car Insurance Claim
Cashless Claim
With a cashless claim, you take your Santro Xing to one of our network garages, and we pay the approved repair cost to the garage directly.
- Report the claim: Contact us as soon as possible after the incident. Call 022-6489-8282, email general.claims@tataaig.com or send a WhatsApp message to 9136160375. You can also register the claim on our claims page, through the TATA AIG mobile app, by scanning our QR code or at your nearest branch office. You will get a claim reference number and a dedicated claim handler.
- Choose a network garage: Find a TATA AIG network garage near you for cashless repairs. Our network includes authorised service centres from several car makers.
- Allow the survey: We will send you the surveyor's name and contact details by SMS, WhatsApp and email. Claims reported before 2 pm are usually surveyed the same day. Do not start repairs until we give approval.
- Get your car repaired: The garage carries out the approved repairs. If it finds more damage during the work, the surveyor reviews it before adding it to the claim. Some Santro Xing parts may take longer to source, so stay in touch with the garage.
- Settle your share: We pay the garage directly. You only pay the deductible, depreciation on replaced parts and any costs your policy does not cover. Since your car is over 10 years old, most replaced parts attract 50% depreciation.
Reimbursement Claim
A reimbursement claim works when you get your Santro Xing repaired at a garage outside our cashless network.
- Report the claim: Let us know without delay by calling 022-6489-8282, emailing general.claims@tataaig.com or sending a WhatsApp message to 9136160375. You can also use our claims page, the TATA AIG mobile app, our QR code or your nearest branch office. For theft or malicious damage, file an FIR within 48 hours.
- Allow the survey: A surveyor inspects your car in person, or you share photos and videos for a digital assessment. Keep the damaged car as it is until the survey is complete.
- Get your car repaired: After approval, have the repairs done at a garage of your choice. You pay the garage first, so keep all original invoices, receipts and estimates.
- Send your documents: Submit the claim form, registration certificate, driving licence, repair invoices and payment receipts. Declare any CNG or LPG kit fitted to your car. Incomplete documents are the most common cause of delays.
- Get your payment: We settle the claim within 7 days of receiving all documents, paid by NEFT after applicable deductions. You can track your claim on our website, the app or through updates sent by SMS, WhatsApp and email.
