Hyundai Accent Car Insurance

Hyundai discontinued the Accent in India in 2013, yet many units are still in daily use as family cars and commercial vehicles. Buyers chose this sedan for its spacious cabin, sturdy engine and low running costs, while its CNG and LPG variants suited cab fleets.

After a decade or more of use, rubber seals, plastic trims and wiring wear out, which raises the risk of breakdowns. Parts for a discontinued model can also take longer to source, making repairs more expensive. These factors make Hyundai Accent car insurance essential for their owners who still rely on this sedan.

Hyundai Accent insurance from TATA AIG can cover third-party liabilities as well as damage to your own car from accidents, theft and natural calamities. It also offers cashless repairs at 6,300+ network garages, so you can get your Accent fixed without paying large repair bills upfront.

Find Out Your Hyundai Accent Insurance Cost

Your Hyundai Accent insurance price depends on the car's Insured Declared Value (IDV), its age, engine capacity, your city and the add-ons you choose. As every Accent is now over a decade old, its IDV is low, which keeps the own-damage premium modest. Use our premium calculator for an exact quote.

Why Insure Your Hyundai Accent?

Third-Party Coverage is a Legal Requirement

Driving your Accent without third-party cover breaks the Motor Vehicles Act, and a first offence costs ₹2,000. You also pay the victim's compensation yourself, which courts decide based on their income, age and dependants.

IRDAI sets third-party policy rates by engine capacity. The Accent variants come in 1.5-litre (1,495 cc) and 1.6-litre (1,599 cc) engine options, making your third-party policy premium ₹3,416 or ₹7,897. You can also buy it as part of a comprehensive insurance policy, which adds damage cover for the car itself.

Repair Bills Scale With What Is in the Car

Hyundai stopped manufacturing the Accent model in 2013, so panels, headlamp units, windscreen glass and interior trim are hard to source and cost more.

On a car this old, rubber seals, wiring looms, and suspension bushes may fail at the same time, turning one bumper knock into several replacements. Retrofitted CNG and LPG kits also push the bill higher after a collision. A car insurance plan can help cover such expenses, subject to your policy coverage.

Network Garages with Access to Hyundai Authorised Workshops

Our 6,300+ network garages let you repair your Accent cashless, so you skip paying the workshop upfront. Our network includes Hyundai authorised workshops, part of the brand's 1,675 service touchpoints across 1,025 cities.

These garages remain the surest source of genuine Accent parts and of technicians who know its 1.5-litre engine. On a discontinued model, that access shortens an otherwise long repair.

Covers Fire, and Natural and Man-Made Disasters

The Accent has a low-riding sedan profile, which can leave it vulnerable to waterlogged roads and flooding. A comprehensive insurance policy covers eligible damage from floods, fire, storms, earthquakes, riots, and other covered disasters.

This protection can help cover repair costs when unexpected natural or man-made events damage your car.

Covers Theft and Total Loss

The Accent is often parked on roadsides, in office parking areas, or in busy market spaces. Older models may also lack some modern anti-theft features, making them more vulnerable to theft.

A Hyundai Accent car insurance policy covers theft and total loss, subject to policy terms, with the applicable IDV payable under the policy.

Hyundai Accent Car Insurance: Which Policy Do I Get?

Every Hyundai Accent on the road today is over 12 years old, so instead of buying car insurance for new cars, choose a policy based on your car's age, fuel type, usage and variant. Consider the available policy types, your driving pattern, and eligible add-ons before choosing your cover.

Car Insurance Policy Types We Offer

Comprehensive Car Insurance

Hyundai Accent comprehensive insurance combines third-party liability cover with protection for your own car. It covers eligible damage from accidents, fire, theft, floods and other natural calamities, along with injury or property damage you cause to others. This makes it a well-rounded choice if your Accent is still your everyday car.

Buy Comprehensive Car Insurance

Third-Party Car Insurance

Hyundai Accent third-party insurance is the minimum cover required by law for your car. It pays for injury, death or property damage you cause to others, but does not cover repairs to your own car. It can suit owners who drive their Accent only occasionally and are looking for a budget-friendly and legally compliant plan.

Buy Third-Party Car Insurance

Standalone Own Damage Car Insurance

Standalone own damage car insurance covers damage to your Hyundai Accent from accidents, fire, theft, floods and other natural calamities. You can buy it if you already have a valid third-party policy, so you protect your own car without paying twice for liability cover. It works well when your third-party policy is still active but you want your Accent covered against repair costs.

Buy Own-Damage Car Insurance

Does Your Variant Change Your Insurance Choice?

Your Accent variant has less impact on insurance than it would on a newer Hyundai model. The GLE, GLS, Executive and GTX Tornado variants have relatively simple specifications, with no advanced driver-assistance systems. Therefore, trim-level differences have limited impact on your Accent insurance premium.

However, the 1,599cc GTX Tornado falls in a higher third-party premium slab. A retrofitted CNG or LPG kit also needs proper car insurance endorsement on your RC and insurance policy.

What Policy Do I Buy? Insurance for Different Types of Owners

Buy Hyundai Accent car insurance online based on how you use your car.

Parameter Recommended Cover Why
First-time car owner Comprehensive Insurance + Roadside Assistance Covers inexperience and breakdowns in an old car.
Used Accent buyer Comprehensive Insurance, transferred within 14 days Keep your cover valid after the ownership change.
Daily city commuter Comprehensive Insurance + Repair of Glass, Fibre, Plastic and Rubber Parts Handles frequent scrapes and cracked trims.
Heavy driving Comprehensive Insurance + Additional Third-party Property Damage Cover Raises cover for damage to other cars.
Highway driver Comprehensive Insurance + Emergency Medical Expenses Pays for treatment after a highway accident.
CNG or LPG variant Comprehensive Insurance + Roadside Assistance Covers kit damage and gas-related breakdowns.
Accent under 15 years old Comprehensive Insurance + select add-ons Still eligible for select add-ons.
Accent over 15 years old Comprehensive or Third-Party Insurance No add-ons apply; keep re-registration valid.

Please note: Add-on availability depends on vehicle age, eligibility and policy terms.

Hyundai Accent Car Insurance Add-On Covers Worth Buying

Hyundai discontinued the Accent in India in 2013, so most units on the road are now over a decade old. While many add-ons have age limits, these remain available for Accent models up to 15 years old.

Roadside Assistance: Ageing batteries, wiring and tyres make roadside breakdowns more likely in an older Accent. The Roadside Assistance add-on helps with eligible breakdowns, flat tyres, battery issues and towing, so you are not left stranded.

Repair of Glass, Fibre, Plastic and Rubber Parts: Rubber seals and plastic trims turn brittle with age, making them easier to damage on an older Accent. The Repair of Glass, Fibre, Plastic and Rubber Parts add-on covers their eligible repair or replacement after covered incidents.

Additional Towing Charges: Parts for a discontinued model are not stocked at every workshop, so your Accent may need to be towed to a garage farther away. The Additional Towing Charges add-on offers extra protection for these eligible towing costs.

Emergency Transport and Hotel Expenses: Since Accent parts can take longer to source, repairs away from home may keep you waiting. The Emergency Transport and Hotel Expenses add-on covers eligible travel and stay costs if your Accent breaks down or meets with an accident away from home.

Key Replacement: Replacement keys for a discontinued model like the Accent can be harder to source and may need to be specially ordered. The Key Replacement add-on covers eligible costs of replacing lost, stolen or damaged keys for your Accent.

Please Note:

Add-ons have a 15-year eligibility limit. Therefore, owners of older Accents may need to choose comprehensive or third-party insurance without these add-ons, subject to policy terms and eligibility.

What Affects Your Hyundai Accent Insurance Cost

Your Hyundai Accent insurance premium has two main parts. Third-party insurance follows regulator-set rates, while own-damage pricing varies by insurer.

The Fixed Part: Hyundai Accent Third-party Insurance Premium

Third-party rates are based on your car’s engine size, and not its value. Most Accents run the 1,495cc petrol or the 1,493cc diesel engine, which places them in the 1,001 to 1,500cc band at ₹3,416 a year.

The 1.6-litre petrol fitted to earlier Accents displaces 1,599cc. It falls into the above-1,500cc band at ₹7,897, a higher rate than several newer and costlier Hyundai models attract. The figure is identical across insurers and not negotiable.

The Variable Part: Own-damage Premium

What moves it Why it matters on an Accent
IDV With every Accent now between 13 and 27 years old, the IDV is agreed with the insurer and forms the base of your own-damage premium.
Add-ons Select add-ons are available only for Accent models up to 15 years old from registration. Accent cars older than 15 years cannot opt for add-ons, so check your registration year before buying.
City of registration Metro registration carries a higher rate, reflecting traffic density, theft incidence and repair labour costs.
CNG or LPG kit A gas kit must be declared and is rated as part of the vehicle, whether fitted by Hyundai or retrofitted.
No Claim Bonus Five claim-free years reduce the own-damage premium by 50%.
Claim history Frequent claims mark the car as higher risk and raise the renewal premium.

Please note: Car insurance add-on availability depends on vehicle age, eligibility and policy terms.

What You Can Do

  • Choose the right IDV: Set an IDV that reasonably reflects your Accent's current market value. Avoid choosing an artificially low IDV to reduce your premium.
  • Select relevant add-ons: Choose add-ons based on how you use your Accent. Roadside Assistance and towing-related covers can be useful for an ageing car.
  • Compare renewal quotes: Compare own-damage quotes before renewal. Check the IDV, deductibles, coverage, and add-ons alongside the premium.

What IDV Should You Set for Your Hyundai Accent Car?

Insured Declared Value (IDV) is the one figure on the quote form you choose, and the one car owners misjudge more than any other. It represents your car's current market value and the maximum payable if it is stolen or declared a total loss.

For vehicles beyond five years of age and for models the manufacturer has discontinued, IDV is set by agreement between insurer and insured. On an Accent aged 13 years or more, this figure decides whether comprehensive cover remains worth holding.

The Trade-Off

If you set IDV Your premium If the car is stolen or written off
Low, to save money Lower You receive less, and the shortfall is yours to cover
At market value Proportionate to the cover You receive a sum reflecting the car's worth
Above market value Higher Needs mutual agreement, so an inflated value is unlikely to be approved

A constructive total loss (CTL) is declared once the repair estimate reaches 75% of IDV. At a Hyundai Accent's valuation, damage that appears repairable can cross that threshold, so a low IDV brings a smaller payout and a greater chance of a write-off.

What IDV to Set on an Accent

Base the IDV figure on the car's condition, service records and any declared fitments, such as a factory CNG or LPG kit. Two Accent cars of the same year can carry different IDVs.

The Mistake to Avoid

Setting IDV low because the car is old. Hold the car insurance cover at a value that would replace the car. If that value does not justify the premium, third-party cover is the sound alternative. Since any theft or total loss payout is based on the IDV stated in your policy, it is worth getting this figure right when you buy or renew your plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does replacing a cracked windscreen reduce my Accent car insurance payout through depreciation?

iconDown

No. Glass parts attract nil depreciation under the policy, while rubber and plastic parts attract 50%. A windscreen replacement on your Accent is therefore settled without a depreciation deduction, subject to the compulsory deductible.

Does car insurance cover tyres if they are damaged in an accident?

iconDown

Only when the car sustains damage in the same incident, and the payout is limited to 50% of the replacement cost. Tyre damage on its own is not covered, and Tyre Secure is unavailable on cars beyond seven years.

Will the Hyundai Accent car insurance policy pay for towing my car after an accident?

iconDown

The base policy covers reasonable towing costs to the nearest repairer, up to ₹1,500 per accident, where the damage is caused by a covered event. Hyundai Accent cars under fifteen years old can extend this limit through the Additional Towing Charges add-on.
