If your employer takes charge of your Norway Work Visa application process, you must first collect all the necessary documents for the visa. Afterwards, you complete the online application available on the UDI website.

Subsequently, you provide copies of the required documents to your employer and written authorisation permitting them to apply for the visa on your behalf.

Your employer then submits the completed application to either the Residence Permit and Protection Services of the Norwegian police or a Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA), depending on their location within Norway.

The police or SUA will forward the application to the UDI for processing.

There are 5 different types of Work Visas available for Indian nationals seeking employment in Norway:

Skilled Worker Visa:

The Skilled Worker Visa is essential for individuals who have completed higher education or vocational training and are seeking employment or business opportunities in Norway.

Job Seeker Visa:

The Norway Job Seeker Visa for Indian nationals is designed for individuals aspiring to secure employment as skilled workers in Norway. However, this visa is not applicable for positions in religious leadership or teaching.

Vocational Training and Research Visa:

This visa category encompasses two types of residence permits. If you are Applying for a Norway Work Visa Yourself (in Norway):

Complete the online application on the UDI website.

Provide copies of the required documents to your employer and written authorisation for them to apply on your behalf.

Your employer submits the completed application to either the Residence Permit and Protection Services of the Norwegian police or a Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA), based on their location.

The police or SUA will forward the application to the UDI for further processing, facilitating your journey to employment in Norway.

When you are ready to apply for a Norwegian Work Visa, start by visiting the UDI website and filling out the online application. They will guide you based on your education, nationality, and how you want to apply, whether by yourself or through your employer.

Once you are in Norway, go to the local police services to get your Residence Card. Remember to schedule an appointment before you arrive using the UDI Application Portal. It is best to do this within your first week in Norway.

The Norway Work Visa fee is NOK 6,300 (approximately ₹49,800), which also serves as the renewal fee for the Work Visa. Payment of this fee is mandatory and must be made using a debit or credit card during the completion of the online application on the UDI website.

It is important to note that an additional service fee will be incurred if you choose to apply through a Visa Application Center (VAC) instead of applying through the Embassy.

Therefore, applicants should factor in this extra cost when considering their preferred application method.

The processing time for a Norway Work Visa can extend up to 8 weeks from the date of application submission. During this period, applicants must patiently await the outcome of their visa application.

It is important to note that if applicants are already in Norway during the processing period, they are not authorised to commence work until their visa application has been officially approved.
