Egypt Transit Visa for Indians

There is no separate transit visa available for Indian nationals in Egypt. Note that no transit visa is required for layover less than 48 hours and you don’t have plans to leave the airport.

Egypt Transit Visa Application for Indians

Step 1: Locate the Embassy of Egypt in New Delhi and learn about the requirements by contacting the authorities.

Step 2: Request the visa application form and schedule an appointment by contacting the Egyptian Embassy. Although they may allow walk-ins, it is always better to book an appointment to avoid any delays.

Step 3: Visit the Embassy of Egypt on the scheduled date along with the documents and duly filled visa application form.

Step 4: Attend the visa interview and make the payment.

Step 5: Wait for the application to get processed.

Step 6: Once you get the visa decision, collect your passport.

Egypt Visa via Visa Application Centre

Step 1: Go to the website of VFS Global centre and select the type of visa you wish to apply for.

Step 2: Book your visa appointment and download the visa application form.

Step 3: Visit VAC on the scheduled date, along with the complete form and documents.

Step 4: Pay the application fees and wait for processing.

Step 5: Collect your passport.

Valid Passport: Your passport must have at least two blank pages and a validity of at least 6 months. Further, it must not be torn/damaged.

Visa Application Form: Make sure to carry your complete and signed visa application form.

Passport-size Photos: Carry 2 to 3 recent passport-style photos on a white solid background. Make sure that your eyes and ears are completely visible in the images.

Medical Certificate: You also need to submit a medical report duly signed and attested by a registered medical service provider.

Proof of Funds: Proof of funds is also required for Egypt visa applications. So, make sure to carry a copy of bank statements or payslips for the last 3-4 months.

Proof of Accommodation: Although it is not mandatory, you might also be asked to submit proof of your hotel reservations in Egypt.

Return/Transit Flight Details: Visa authorities also require your return or transit tickets. So, make sure to book them before initiating your visa application.

Additional Documents: Apart from the above-mentioned documents, you may be asked to submit some additional papers.

Processing time for Egypt visa applications can range from 5 to 7 days. However, this time can vary at the discretion of the Egypt Embassy and the workload of consular services.

Perform Immigration Procedures: As soon as you arrive at the Egypt International Airport, go to the immigration counter along with your documents and carefully perform the immigration formalities. You may also be asked certain questions by the immigration officers; try to answer them as honestly as you can.

Collect Baggage (if available): If your Baggage is dropped on your layover, collect it from the specified belt and secure it in the transit area.

Book Transportation: If you are planning to leave the airport, book your transportation from the airport itself to avoid any delays or inconvenience.

Get Local Currency: The international airports in Egypt have a currency exchange facility where you can get your currency exchanged.

Get a Local SIM Card: If you are planning to stay for a longer duration, it is recommended to get a local SIM card, which can be found at the airport itself.

Book an Accommodation: It is always better to make your hotel reservations right after your flight tickets are confirmed. But in case you can’t for some reason, book your accommodation after landing at the Egypt airport.
