Comprehensive coverage for travel insurance for Morocco available through Tata AIG at ₹40.82.

Morocco boasts a diverse and vibrant culture that pulls many Indians for long holidays and even day trips from Southern Spain. It lies on the northernmost tip of Africa and is a gateway between Europe and Northern Africa. It has also long been a popular destination for Indians as it is incredibly affordable.

It hosts several iconic sites like the Atlas Mountains, the Moroccan and Sahara desert, its azure beaches, and unique architecture that can be seen across cities like Fez and Meknes. Moreover, it is also home to its best-known city, Casablanca.

If you are planning a trip to Morocco, you will need a Morocco visa and travel insurance to cover you. For Morocco visas for Indians, you can apply in person at the nearest Embassy of Morocco or online through their website.

So before you board that plane, read on to find out Morocco's visa requirements and how you can get a Morocco E-Visa for Indian citizens. We have listed everything you need to know about the Morocco Visa and provided a step-by-step guide to completing your visa applications.

Entry Requirements and Morocco Visa for Indians

All Indian nationals need a valid visa and passport to enter Morroco. This is mandatory for all applicants residing in India - both Indian citizens and foreign nationals. Hence, here are some entry requirements for a Morocco visa for Indians:

  • You are travelling for tourism or business purposes.

  • You have a return ticket.

  • You have a hotel reservation or an invitation.

  • You have enough funds for your trip (EUR 70 or ₹6,183 per day).

  • You have a valid passport when entering and leaving Morocco (for at least 90 days from the date you leave for Morocco).

  • Proof of legal stay in India is required for visa applications submitted by foreign nationals.

  • A valid work permit if you intend to work in Morroco.

Moreover, all applicants must submit their applications to their nearest Morocco Visa Application Center (MVAC). These centres are located in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.

Candidates can submit their visa applications with their passports, required documents, and relevant fees by walking in and submitting them at these centres.

Alternatively, you can also apply for a Morocco visa online. E-Visas have a duration of stay for 30 days and can be extended up to six months with multiple-entry in Morocco.

The online application process was implemented on January 10, 2023, to further strengthen and facilitate travel between the two countries and to promote Morocco as a privileged destination for tourism and business to Indian nationals.

Is There A Morocco Visa On Arrival For An Indian Passport?

No. There is no Morocco visa on arrival for Indian passport holders. This option only applies to extreme situations and is not provided for regular visits for Indian nationals. Hence, if you are an Indian national, you must apply for a standard Morocco visa or e-visa.

You must also remember that having a visa in your passport does not automatically guarantee entry into Morocco. The permission to enter Morocco and the length of your stay lies solely with the Moroccan Immigration Authorities.

Types Of Morocco Visa For Indians

Morocco visas for Indians can be divided into three main categories based on the duration of your visit:

Visa Type  Validity  Duration of Stay
Short-Term visa or Tourist visa 180 days Up to 30 days
Long-term visa 180 days Dependent on visa sub-type and purpose of visit
Transit visa Up to 1 - 2 transits Each transit can not exceed 72 hours

Here is a closer look at them and the reasons under which they are issued, along with their sub-types.

Morocco Tourist Visa for Indians

This short-term visa allows Indian nationals to visit and reside in Morroco for purposes other than immigration. This can be for reasons such as:

Tourism/Personal Visits.

Business.

Attending a cultural or academic event, such as a conference (seminars/conferences visa).

Sports Events.

Journalism.

Medical Treatment.

A Morocco tourist visa for Indians can be issued for single or multiple entries. Its validity lasts up to 180 days, and the maximum duration of stay is 30 days.

Long-Term Morocco Visas for Indians

Like the Morocco tourist visa for Indians, the long-term visa is valid for 180 days. However, long-term visa holders can apply for a Residency Card (Carte de Séjour) from the Moroccan General Directorate of National Security under Morocco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This visa is divided into sub-types such as:

Morocco Work Visa: Issued to Indian nationals who find a job in Morocco (a work permit is also needed).

Morocco Student Visa: Issued to Indian nationals who want to pursue their studies in Morocco.

Morocco Visa for Family Reunification: Issued to Indians wanting to join a family member living in Morocco.

You can not apply for a residency card if you enter Morroco under a tourist visa.

Morocco Transit Visa for Indians

A transit visa is issued to Indians travelling to another country who must pass through the Kingdom of Morocco. It can be issued for 1 or 2 transits, with the duration of each transit not exceeding 72 hours.

You only need to apply for this visa if you have to go through immigration to stay in a hotel to catch a flight the next day. In this instance, you must follow standard visa and entry procedures.

In other cases, transit through Morocco is permitted if you meet the entry requirements of your destination, and you do not need to apply for an e-visa.

Visa on Arrival

For exceptional circumstances, the Security Services of Morocco may issue a short stay and transit visa simultaneously at the Moroccan Border Post.

For this visa category, you must address applications directly to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - specifically to the Directorate of Consular and Social Affairs in Rabat rather than the Moroccan Embassy in India.
