HSRP Maharashtra

Maharashtra is home to the vibrant city of Mumbai, the home of Bollywood and the land of dreams and also Pune, the hub of technology and education.

With these promising cities, it is important to note that the population inflow is always on the higher side in Maharashtra, resulting in urban congestion and improper road management and monitoring abilities.

The issues regarding numerous road accidents and increasing cases of tampering with car number plates are the key reasons behind the implementation of HSRP in Maharashtra.

With High-Security Registration Plates in the state, the commitment of the state government towards enhancing road safety and improving road and transportation systems is visible.

Let us understand the role of HSRP in Maharashtra, why it is important and ways to get HSRP in Maharashtra online and offline below.

Things to Know Before Applying for Maharashtra High-Security Number Plate

If you are wondering, “Is HSRP mandatory in Maharashtra?” The answer is yes. After the improvisations in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has now mandated HSRP in multiple states in India.

The previously used car number plates were often tampered with, resulting in gaps for the traffic police to keep a check on all the vehicles in the state and their participation in criminal acts.

However, with the new high-security registration number plates, this issue is resolved significantly. Here is all you need to know about Maharashtra's high-security number plate.

All HSRPs are well-equipped with chromium-based holograms that make them tamper-proof and also restrict cases of duplication.

The screws used to install HSRP to the vehicles are strong and increase security significantly as they are non-removable and come with snap-on locks.

Each of the HSRP comes with a permanent identification number that comes with laser branding, reducing the scope of tampering and increasing faster identification.

As mentioned before, HSRP in Maharashtra is mandated by law for all vehicles purchased before April 2019. Failure to do so can result in a fine amount of ₹1000.

All the HSRPs should be equipped with colour-coded stickers as per law as it helps indicate the fuel type of the vehicle.

New vehicles bought after April 2019 come with HSRP. However, for HSRP in Maharashtra for old vehicles, you need to apply for it online or offline.

Along with the mandate for HSRP in Maharashtra, insurance for a four-wheeler or two-wheeler is also compulsory in the state.

A third-party bike or car insurance policy is mandatory to ensure on-road safety against any damage or loss incurred by a third party.

However, along with this, for a financial safety net for vehicle owners against any damage or loss to their vehicle, Tata AIG offers comprehensive insurance plans with different add-ons to provide customisation flexibility to everyone based on needs.

Moreover, we consider IDV in policy settlements against any claims for damage beyond repair or stolen vehicles to ensure the best compensation is provided.

Conclusion

The rule of HSRP is applicable to all states in India. Thus, every vehicle owner, regardless of their vehicle category, needs to register and apply for HSRP with a colour-coded sticker to avoid fines.

It is not only beneficial for the traffic police to maintain road safety, but it also increases personal accountability, contributing to a safer driving environment.
