Kuwait Visa for Indians

Kuwait, also known as the State of Kuwait, is a prominent country in West Asia. It is a major energy player due to its substantial reserves of gas and oil. Every year, thousands of foreigners travel to Kuwait for employment and other reasons. However, one crucial requirement for entering Kuwait is having a visa.

Without a proper Kuwait visa, entry into the country will be denied. Indian nationals who wish to travel to Kuwait for work, tourism, or other purposes must obtain a Kuwait visa for Indians. In this guide, we will provide a detailed overview of the Kuwait visa application process, including its steps, processing time, and other relevant details.

Is a Kuwait Visa for Indians Necessary?

Whether you are travelling for work, employment, study, or family visits, Indian nationals need to collect a Kuwait visa. There are various types of visas, categorised by purpose, including a Kuwait transit visa, a visit visa, and a work visa, among others. Applicants can apply for these categories through official channels.

However, before applying for a Kuwait visa as an Indian, applicants must ensure their eligibility and meet the required documentation. Without meeting the eligibility criteria or providing the required documentation, the Kuwait visa application may be rejected.

Kuwait is not a visa-free country for Indian nationals; they must pay the visa processing fees to the authorities to obtain a visa in a timely manner. The collected Kuwait visa price by officials is non-refundable. It means if the visa gets rejected, you will not get the money back.

E-Visa Kuwait for Indians

To streamline the visa process, Kuwait offers an e-visa service; however, this service is not applicable to all countries. Indian nationals can only apply for an e-visa for Kuwait under the following conditions:

  • If you hold a Schengen, US, or UK tourist visa, you are eligible to apply for a Kuwait e-visa.

  • If you hold a valid residence permit for the US, UK, and Schengen countries, you can also apply for a Kuwait e-visa.

  • Lastly, if you have a GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) valid residence permit, then you can apply for the e-visa.

Indian nationals who do not fall into this category must apply for a Kuwait visa at the embassy prior to their travel date.

Kuwait Visa-on-Arrival for Indian Citizens

As of August 2025, Kuwait offers a visa-on-arrival to Indian nationals who hold a valid GCC residence permit. The countries that are part of the GCC are the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

If Indian applicants hold a valid residence permit for at least six months in these countries, they can apply for a tourist visa-on-arrival.

The visa is directly granted at the port of entry into Kuwait. Other applicants who do not fall into this category must apply for the visa before their intended travel date.
